Should I Purchase Wii Fit? Is it Truly a Breakthrough in the Gaming World?

With all the positive response that the Nintendo Wii received since its first release, it's no surprise that people are continually seeking to purchase Wii Fit and storming through stores to find where to get Wii Fit. The Wii Fit gaming system was first released in Japan at the end of December 2007 and within a month, it reached about a million copies in sale. Even now there are still high demands to purchase Wii Fit.

With features including whole body exercises, personal trainer, gradual intensity increase and its ability to allow the whole family to have a fun and challenging exercise together, perhaps the Wii Fit really is worth all the hype of people frantically looking to purchase Wii Fit. This article will explore the several features of Wii Fit that make it unique compared to other gaming systems, in order to help you determine whether or not you should purchase Wii Fit.

It is no doubt that the Wii games require the players to actively move to participate in the games. However, unlike others, Wii Fit allows for a full body workout, including legs, arms as well as the stomach (as seen in the hula hoop exercises). With the exercises divided into groups, including yoga, strength training, aerobics and balance training, those who purchase Wii Fit can get a fun and exciting full body workout. In addition to this great feature, it also brings a personal trainer right into the living room of those who purchase Wii Fit. This is very beneficial for those who need help to start exercising.

As you may have realized, when intending to start a workout, it really helps to have some type of support system to encourage you throughout the workout. Those who purchase Wii Fit are given a personal trainer that will guide them through the exercises. Perhaps this is one reason why many people are interested to purchase Wii Fit. As you go through the exercise, you are given feedback on how you are doing. In addition, the Wii Fit also allows you to monitor your progress each time you workout. This is a great feature that will help you stay on track as your exercise intensity increases.

As you know, a workout without variations or challenges could get boring after a while. This isn't the case with Wii Fit, because after you purchase Wii Fit and continue to do an exercise, it will unlock more advanced exercises. In doing so, you will continue to challenge yourself with the workouts. Aside from challenging yourself through the increased workout intensity, Wii Fit also allows for an added challenge of exercising with other people who purchase Wii Fit balance board, including your friends or family members and compete with each other.

With the hassle of everyday life, it seems hard to find a chance for the family to do an fun and healthy activity together. When you purchase Wii Fit you can transform your living room into a workout center for your whole family. This provides a great way for everybody to participate and have fun while competing with each other to reach the highest score.

As we can see through this article, the Wii Fit is unquestionably an exciting innovation in the gaming world. Not only does it work the whole body, provide a personal trainer, and increases the exercise intensity, but it also provides the opportunity to exercise with friends and family members and challenge each other to reach your highest potential. With all these unique and exciting features and the huge amount of success as a breakthrough in the gaming world, it is anticipated that there will be a continual high demand of people wanting to purchase Wii Fit.

Buying a Wii Sport Console For Grandpa And Grandma This Christmas

Seniors playing Wii video games? If you are thinking of buying a new Nintendo Wii Or Wii Fit for the older members of the family for Christmas this year, then you are in for a treat. Playing Wii with the whole family on Christmas Day is a whole new way to spend some of the big day with the old, the young & the middle aged. My younger brother & I have had a total riot playing Wii Sports & Wii Fit & Wii MarioKart on a Race Wheel with my 88 year old grandparents over the last few months. They are so funny when they play against each other and then get in a hissy over losing or some other stupid thing. They are just like my brother & I; bickering over a game play and behaving badly.

This has brought us all closer as we see how funny it is for reasonable adults to have a cow and lose it, we do not take out own childish fights very seriously anymore, cause they always remind us of how funny Grandpa and Grandma were, fighting over the Wii boxing game or the Wii bowling score final. The other great thing about playing Wii with my grandparents is that, now, they get my brother & I more. Before they learned to play Wii they always criticized us for being video game addicts. Not so much anymore! Now the whole family is a bunch of mega Wii gamers and we all play together. Personally, though I guess it sounds a bit shallow; I love my Wii addicted family more now that we all play Wii games together, learn new stuff together, laugh together and laugh about getting mad at each other together. I guess this is family togetherness & love in the 21st century! So Be It! Gramps & Gramma & Ma & Pa, Aunti DO DO & Uncle K: WELCOME To Our World of Wii It's good to be here together. This year, for christmas, we are buying the new wii Music game for Gramps & Gramma. That should take the edge off the scrapping and bring a little Wii harmony to the game at our house.

Low Nintendo Wii Availability Causes Big Problems For Consumers

The video gaming field is undergoing explosive growth. More and more people are getting on board with the video gaming lifestyle and buying the new consoles which bring so many entertainment options right in to their own homes. In 2007, estimated sales of video gaming consoles were in the neighborhood of $480,000,000! A large part of this total figure is accounted for by sales of the Nintendo Wii.

Sadly, the Nintendo Wii has been difficult to come by for many, given the unprecedented level of demand for this console. There have been waiting lists for the Nintendo Wii which are months long! Video gaming enthusiasts are less than thrilled by the situation.

Since its release last year, Nintendo Wii availability has been nothing short of dismal around the holiday season. If one of the people on your shopping list was hoping for a Wii, they may end up being disappointed. Nintendo has tried to keep pace with the demand for this system, but it has been nearly impossible to do this because of the overwhelming demand on the part of video gamers for this revolutionary console.

Finding a Nintendo Wii has been more difficult in some parts of the world than in others. In the UK, stores have has considerable trouble keeping the consoles in stock ever since their release. Since the beginning of the year though, Nintendo Wii availability has been slowly increasing. It is now a possibility to go into a store and emerge with a Nintendo Wii console, which has been an unlikely event before now.

Problems With Nintendo Wii Availability:

Holiday rush - The holiday season created a demand for the Nintendo Wii which far outstripped the supply of these popular consoles, creating a shortage worldwide.

Disappointment for gamers - the lack of Nintendo Wii availability led to a lot of long faces this past holiday season.

Scams - criminals took advantage of the unprecedented demand for the Nintendo Wii by perpetrating swindles on unsuspecting gamers.

Deceptive marketing - unscrupulous shop owners used deceptive tactics to sell more Nintendo Wii gaming consoles.

Deceptive Marketing and Controversial Sales Tactics

Some unscrupulous retailers were using deceptive strategies to sell more Wii consoles during the early days of Nintendo Wii availability in the UK. Knowing that the Wii was difficult to find, some retailers used the old "this is the last one in stock" trick to get customers to buy immediately based on the scarcity of the item rather than thinking about the purchase.

Other retailers overstated their inventory levels and promised Nintendo Wii availability at a certain date - which ended up getting them into trouble when the Wii consoles were not there at the time which they had been promised to customers.

The low availability of the Nintendo Wii at the beginning led a lot of consumers to fall for the plots of swindlers. On more than one occasion, swindlers sold a Nintendo Wii either through a website of their own or via online auction sites. The customer, eager to get their hands on a Wii before everyone else would pay and then receive a box full of bricks rather than a Nintendo Wii as a result of being taken in by this swindle.

Now that the Wii has become more widely available, these sorts of scams are now rare. Nintendo Wii should continue to become more and more available and soon there will be no more waiting lists for the exciting gaming console, no matter what time of year it is and where you live.

Nintendo Wii Mod Chip Update - New Wii Modchips Means More Selection And Lower Prices

Some months ago I wrote the first article about the release of 3 different Nintendo Wii Mod Chips. Being a homebrew fan myself, it was hard to hide my enthusiasm when it came to these Wii mod chips simply because I have been a fan of homebrew games - and more importantly import games, since the days of the good old Nintendo Entertainment system. While it took only a little bit of cutting with an exacto knife back then to play the latest Japanese games on my North American Nintendo Entertainment system, I've pretty much done whatever I needed to do to be able to play those games. Including installing a mod chip in virtually every game system that needed one since then.

I am not into pirating games at all (having unauthorized copies of games that I don't own) as it takes away from the developers that invest time, money, and a whole slew of blood, sweat and tears into making these amazing games. I say this only because the modchips I am about to talk about also allow you to play copies or backups of your Nintendo Wii games - but I am not at all talking about them for this reason, nor will I be able to respond to any questions about this - simply because I wouldn't know what to tell my readers anyway.

In my last Wii Mod Chip Article, I covered three different Nintendo Wii Mod Chips. These included the first ever Wii chip to be released, the Wiinja chip, as well as the Wiikey and the Cyclowiz modchips for the Wii. I won't go into the details and features of these three Wii chips, as my previous Nintendo Wii ModChips Article covered all of their features and functions. I'll instead focus on the newer chips that have just been released.

Before I continue with the rest of the article, I think that it is important for me to say that first and foremost, these are my opinions, and my opinions only. While I prefer to use, or have a chip that I find to be the best all around chip, both for features, functions and price, it does not, by any means mean that you should go with my own personal favorites. I state that I like one chip over another because I am lucky enough to be able to test each new chip as it is released. I'm able to compare the features, the functions, the ease of installation, but it is again, only my opinion. Opinions vary from person to person.

I'll start with my new personal favorite, the WiiC wii mod chip. The features of the WiiC wii mod chip, also called the Wi-IC are very similar to those of the other Nintendo Wii Mod chips on the market today. But what makes the WiiC stand out is the fact that rather than just updating setup settings via a DVD update disc, you are actually able to update and upgrade the built in bios on the WiiC itself. While this may seem trivial, it is a HUGE leap forward as far as support for any type of mod chip. Just imagine new games coming out that don't work with a specific mod. Other mod chips will allow you to settings only. Which means you can set your Wii to think it's a Japanese Wii instead of a Nintendo Wii purchased here in the USA. With the WiiC wii mod chip, you'll actually be able to re-program the chip itself, so that should a game NOT be compatible, you'll be able to update the chip to make even that NEW game compatible.

Keeping the theme of updates. You can easily update a mod chip, even just settings, and end up with a dead chip. The WiiC actually has a built in failsafe for this. A built in sort of DEFAULT option, that will reset the chip and put it back to the state it was in prior to the update. Making it appear as if no update was ever done to the chip, so that you could start again from scratch. And if you're worried about whether or not an installation you did works, it also has built in multi function LED's which will give you an install diagnostic and status, to ensure that your installation worked perfectly, as it should have. And if not, you can check all of your installation / wiring before spending all of the time to put your Nintendo Wii back together again. There are currently no other chips on the market that have all of these features. Of course, it'll play all of your import and backup games, as well as Gamecube import and homebrew games, etc... Not bad for a chip that costs less than $30.00

The second, and last mod chip in this article will cover another new chip to the Nintendo Wii Mod chip market. WiiD wii drive chip, from Team WiiD. Most online stores call this chip a wii mod chip for advanced users. I can only assume that this statement is made because of all of the advanced features that are touted by the manufacturers to be coming soon. Being first to market has tremendous advantages, especially in the video game related products category. Be the product a controller, or, as in this case, a modchip. But being first to market also means that you could potentially release something a big too early, and have it not work with every type of machine that is on the market, or yet to come. While the WiiD manufacturers had the technology ready to produce their mod chip, they decided to wait and release it after thoroughly testing it with every single type of Wii console on the market.

The WiiD is a fully featured Nintendo Wii mod chip. Allowing you to quickly and easily play all of your import and backup Gamecube and Nintendo Wii Games, as well as Gamecube Homebrew games right out of the box. It's extremely easy to install, easy to upgrade, compatible with every single Wii console system on the market today. What makes this mod chip really stand out is the ability to either use the quick solder pads found on the chip, like many Wii Mod chips. But you can also use wires just as easily as using the quick solder pads, thanks to the pre set solder points right on the WiiD chip, making wired install just as easy, without having to solder to the quick solder pads.

Find out which mod chip better suits your personal skill level. Choosing the right chip depends mainly on your skill level and what you anticiapte you would like to do once the modchip is installed into your Nintendo Wii. A full list of functions and features for these Nintendo Wii Mod Chips is available by reading more about the WiiC [http://www.ps2cover.com/wiic-wii-mod-chip.shtml]

Wii Remote Controller - 4 Reasons Why the Wii Remote Controller Has Made the Wii So Popular

The Wii remote controller, affectionately known as the Wii mote, has changed the way everyone wants to play video games. With its sensor capability, the remote controller brings players right into the heart of the action, and makes games a real thrill to play.

When Nintendo created the Wii, it wanted a games system that anyone could just pick up and play. It did this by letting players control games by simply waving the remote controller around - a brilliant idea!

Most video game controllers have lots of buttons scattered around the controller. It takes time and practice getting used to these complicated controllers, but the Wii mote is different.

The Wii remote only has 2 main buttons. To control your actions in the game, simply point your controller at the screen and move it left and right, up and down. The characters follow any movements you make directly in the game.

Here are 4 reasons why the Wii has become so popular, and they're all because of the Wii mote controller...

The Wii's controller makes the Wii games really easy for anyone to pick up and play, without having to remember what all the different buttons are for. The Wii lets family and friends of all skill levels and gaming experience play together. With the Wii controller, new gamers don't feel like they're playing a game of finger twister trying to press all the buttons on the controller.

Whether you're playing tennis, racing around in Mario Kart, or swinging a lightsaber in Star Wars, the remote controller makes you feel like you're right in the game. You're not just sitting and playing the game, with the Wii mote you're actually a part of it!

Playing Wii games with the Wii mote gives you a bit of a workout. Wii Sports, Wii Fit and a host of other games build up quite a sweat. A professional Major League Baseball player recently lost 25 pounds just by playing on the Wii.

There are lots of accessories and peripherals for the Wii controller that make the gaming experience even more realistic. Clip the remote controller into a tennis racket or golf club for playing Wii Sports, or put the remote into a steering wheel for playing your favourite racing game. There's even a glowing lightsaber attachment for playing Star Wars games.

The Wii remote makes the Wii a unique and thrilling gaming experience for all ages. The controller is simple to master and puts you right in the middle of the game. You'll be the star of the show when you hit that winning shot, beat up the bad guys or win the big race - all while getting a bit of exercise too!

Steve Braude runs the website Nintendo Wii Explained.com. Like the Nintendo Wii, this website is fun and vibrant with articles that explain all the features of the Wii console, its games and accessories in plain, simple English.

The Wii mote controller brings Wii games to life in a way that's never been seen in video games before. Read more about the Wii controller and all the great Wii games at http://www.nintendo-wii-explained.com/wii-remote.html

Connect Your Wii to the Internet by Wireless Wi-Fi or Wired LAN

Nintendo Wii gaming is so widely popular that the Wii can rightly be considered a cultural icon. Wii games are known for their motion responsive fun and intuitiveness for people of all ages. The Wii's functionality is vastly expanded with Internet connectivity. Wii Channels give you access to a wealth of information as you browse the Internet. You can go head-to-head against friends in your favorite games or take on other players located all over the world. Download new games from a huge selection or find your favorite classic title. You can even stream Netflix movies and TV shows through your console.

Getting Started

Before you can experience all the wonderful online Wii features, you need to connect your console to the Internet. First, you need high-speed Internet access. Then you need to connect your modem to either a wireless router set up to provide Wi-Fi service or a wired router that uses Ethernet cables to form a network (LAN). Your best choice depends where your Wii console will be placed relative to your router. If the two devices (and any other Internet-enabled hardware you want to network) will be within 10 feet or so of each other, the wired option is the way to go. If they will be farther apart than 10 feet, you probably need a wireless network.

Wireless Network (Wi-Fi) Wii Internet Connection

Press the power button on your Wii console after your system is set up according to the installation directions.
If you see a warning message, get to the main menu by grabbing one of your Wii Remotes and pressing the "A" button. Use the "A" button when you need to make a selection described in any of these next steps.
Move the hand on the screen with your remote until it is over the "Wii" button in the lower left corner. Select the Wii button. You will then see an options menu with two large squares.
Select the "Wii Settings" square to go to the "Wii System Settings 1" menu.
Go to the right-pointing arrowhead and select it. You should then be at the "Wii System Settings 2" screen.
Select the "Internet" button.
Check to see what message appears on the right side of the "Connection 1" button then select Connection 1.
If the Connection 1 message was something different from "None," select "Clear Settings."
Choose "Wireless Connection" and then choose "Search for an Access Point."
When you see the instruction "Choose the access point you want to connect to," select "OK."
You now see a list of wireless networks detected by the console. Choose the Wi-Fi network name you used when you configured your router.
You might see a box stating something like, "This access point is secure. Input the password or key." If you do, type in the password used to access your wireless network and select "OK."
Select "OK" followed by "Save Settings" and then "Yes."
Your Wii tests its new network connection for a moment. If all is well, you will see, "The connection test was successful." Now you want to choose "Yes" followed by "I Accept" so you have the most up-to-date Wii system software. Your Wii is now online so you can enjoy the awesome Wii+Internet experience!
If the test in Step 14 was not successful and ended with Error Code 51330 or 52130, the password in Step 12 did not work. Navigate through the steps above again until you are at Step 12 and try again.

Wired Network (LAN) Wii Internet Connection

An adapter not included with your Wii is required to connect to a wired network. You can find out more about Wii Nintendo LAN Adapters in the Resource Box link below. Non-Wii-compatible USB LAN adapters will not work with your Wii system.
Turn the power to your modem and router off and wait about 60 seconds.
With the Wii console powered off, connect the adapter to the USB port on the Wii console back panel.
Plug one end of an Ethernet cable into an open connection on your router and the other end into the adapter.
Turn the power to your modem and router back on and wait for the modem to complete its connection to your Internet service.
Follow Steps 1 through 8 in the wireless Internet setup section and then come back here.
Choose "Wired Connection" and then "OK."
Now follow Step 14 in the wireless Internet setup section to finish connecting your Wii to the Internet.

Wow Its Nintendo Wii

Gaming was created to be accessible and fun to people of all ages and abilities, and was inviting as well as being sophisticated. The Nintendo Wii has a compact design that makes a natural addition to any entertainment setup. One of Wii's drawing factors is the remote control and its motion-sensing technology to entice people of all ages. The remote could be your steering wheel, a tennis racket, or a weapon depending upon your game of choice.

The Nintendo Wii is more than about gaming it features a compact design that makes it a natural addition to any television setup. The Wii is backward-compatable to all Nintendo GameCube games and includes four ports for controllers and two slots for memory cards. A self-loading bay plays single or double-layered 12 cm optical discs for the Wii console, as well as 8 cm Nintendo GameCube discs. Relatively small about the size of 3 DVD cases stacked up on top of each other, and it can be laid out flat or in style by the use of the console stand. The Wii console communicates wirelessly with the Internet via wireless or a Wii LAN adaptor, and can communicate via wireless technology with the Nintendo DS.

The Nunchuk builds on the simplicity of the Wii Remote and goes an extra step to meet the needs of gamers. The Nunchuk connects to the Wii Remote via the expansion port and is used in conjunction with the Wii Remote. In many of the games the players will use the analog stick of the Nunchuk to move characters, and perform specific actions. Both the Wii Remote and Nunchuk are somewhat dependent on each other, and therefore allowing players to hold them in either hand. This grants accessibility seldom seen in other game controllers.

The Wii uses Bluetooth technology and allows you to stand as far as 30 feet away, and up to four Wii Remotes can be connected at once. The Classic Controller which is sold separately allows the player to play classic games available through the Wii Shop Channel.

Wii console revolutionizes how games are played, and will provide an offering of a variety of entertainment, information and communication channels. The Wii menu allows for integration among the entertainment lives of each family. For fun, the Wii Remote can be personalized by a fun 3-D character called a Mii, and Miis can be stored in the Remote, and then transported to a friends house to be played on another Wii.

Potentially the Wii has a bright future. The cost will be an advantage over other systems, such as Ps3 and Xbox 360. Another major advantage is the appeal to normal or classic gamers. The Wii Remote with the Nunchuk is the catch for the non-gaming market, providing for a fun and interactive physical game, as if you were the action on the monitor.

The graphics are lacking to some degree, and have been compared to the original Xbox which weren't very well liked. Between the Xbox 360 and the Nintendo Wii the games on the Wii look bad to the human eyes. Gamers want the graphics to look as real as possible. In time these graphics will become available. The more knowledge gained then more work will be done to achieve better graphics.

Overall the Nintendo Wii is a good source of entertainment, and its future looks bright. Nintendo is all about fun, and that's the Wii, fun, engaging, and even gets a person up and moving around while still in the living room.

Nintendo Wii for Oldies - Huh?

Kids and oldies alike, here are some basic thoughts on the best way to get a Nintendo Wii into your house. They may seem obvious but after reading this, I'll bet you come away with some great ideas, hopefully inspired by this article, on how to get your family onside, sort out Nintendo Wii pricing; ideas on where to purchase a Nintendo Wii and on the cost of Nintendo Wii games and accessories

Time was when "computer games" as oldies and wrinklies would refer to them, were regarded strictly the province of kids and adolescents. Those infuriating Beeps and Squeaks that plagued us from the back seat of the car, on the plane or on the train or bus and for some, that's how they still think of them. Nintendo's Wii has been changing all this.

Ok. Give the oldies a break. Until the latest Christmas advertising campaigns started, some probably thought a "Wii" was an electronic gizmo to stop bed-wetting! Let's face it - Wii - especially heard out of context does give, let's say, an ambiguous impression and granddad might have been thinking it was indeed something he wants for Christmas! It certainly pulled me up the first time I heard it. A lady acquaintance was trying subtly to suggest how I might go about Keeping Fit and recommended a "Wii" to lose weight. Well, think about how it must have sounded. You can imagine... and then we had a good laugh!

Kids, it's your DUTY to tell him about it and how he can improve his golf game. He'll thank you for it. Tell Mum how she can Keep Fit & Dad too. Wouldn't it be great to take Dad on at a game of baseball and thrash him?!!

They might even purchase a Nintendo Wii themselves. Problem sorted but look, if I wanted family to buy me a Nintendo Wii for a present, the two big issues are to check out Nintendo Wii pricing and where to purchase a Nintendo Wii. The cost of Nintendo Wii is going to be all important, wouldn't you say?!!

There's no point in getting family all gee-d up to buy, only to have to keep them waiting. Buy it while they're hot! You could do worse than to start at eBay where you'll find links to hundreds, if not thousands of offers or click on some of those Google or Amazon Ads. There not there for show; they often take you to some good places.

Although I personally promote my own eBay affiliate sites, I can say hand on heart that I do practice as I preach and start at eBay when looking for the best deals. You might not end up there but it has to be the first stop of choice.

Next, if they haven't seen the TV ads, or perhaps especially if they have, find a good video on YouTube. Just type in "Nintendo Wii" in the YouTube "Search" and you'll find dozens of videos that are going to blow your parents' socks off. You know your way around YouTube. Just find something great to show them and the video will do the rest. I'll bet they'll not have seen anything like it. That's just how it was for me! I could hardly believe my eyes; like the first time I saw a VCR working - remember those with tapes an' all - but I guess your all too young to remember those!

Golf, Karting, Baseball, Boxing, Soccer, Football, Cricket, Keep Fit. Even just chatting with your pals. There's squillions of stuff you can do with a Nintendo Wii.

I'm not going to bore you with Nintendo Wii technical specs. Kids - you know all about that. You know what it can do. You probably know better than you know your school and college work! Once you have a Nintendo Wii in your house. You'll all just have so much fun! Then again, another thought is if you can afford it, why not by a Nintendo Wii for Mum & Dad. Speaking as a Dad, I would be really made up if my kids bought ME one!

Nintendo Wii is simply the stuff your parents' dreams were made of!! Talk about Pathetic and Sad but be kind - humor them!

Setup Nintendo Wii - Setting Up Your Wii Made Easy

So you've just excitedly rushed home from the shop with your new Nintendo Wii, opened the box and then stopped dead in your tracks - because it's just occurred to you that you haven't the faintest idea how to setup Nintendo Wii. This article is here to help you with this process; it's easier than it looks, so don't worry!

Starting to Setup Wii -

First you'll need to determine how you want the orientation of your Nintendo Wii. The Wii can sit either vertically or horizontally. If you want to place your unit vertically, place the Wii in the control plate which will be included in the box. What you need to consider here is the space available in your entertainment center and the best way to orient your Wii to ensure that it has sufficient air flow to remain cool.

Plug in Wii -

After this, you need to plug in your Wii to both your outlet and to the television set. Check the back or perhaps the front of your TV to see what manner of A/V connections is present. Once you've found these, plug the correct cord from the Wii into the corresponding plug on your television.

The next step is to plug the AC adapter included with your Wii into the wall outlet and then into the back of your Nintendo Wii console. If you are in, or plan to travel to Europe, remember to use the proper AC adapter - using the wrong type can damage your Wii.

After you setup Nintendo Wii to be connected to your television and to your power, the next thing to do is to plug in the sensor bar to your unit. Find the sensor bar jack on your Wii and plug in the cord there. You must then find a spot to place the sensor bar where the controllers can properly orient themselves to it. The sensor bar has infrared light emitters which the controllers need to receive so you will need an unobstructed sight line between the two. Ideally, you will place your sensor bar in the middle of your TV, which will make it easy for the controllers to align themselves.

The next thing to do to setup Nintendo Wii is to get the controllers up and running. Each controller uses two AA batteries. Install these in the controllers, put a game in your Wii console and then turn on the unit. Make sure that your television set is tuned to channel 3 and you should be ready to go. Follow the instructions which will appear on your screen to finish controller setup and you're off!

If you are unsure about any step to setup Nintendo WIi in your home, just consult the helpful list below:
Place Your Wii properly - decide whether to place your Wii vertically or horizontally depending on your available space and air flow for the console.

Plug your Wii in to your television and to a wall outlet using the adaptor included.

Plug in your sensor bar and place it in a central location on top of your television set.

Place AA batteries in your controllers and put a game in your Nintendo Wii unit.

Turn on the console, turn your television to channel 3 and follow the instructions to complete setup.

Have fun!

The Wii Balance Board Story

It's now been just over a month since Wii Fit was launched in the United States and although response to the game has been mixed, overall it has been a huge success, showing once again why Nintendo continues to lead the video games market. In the run-up to the launch of Wii Fit, the Nintendo marketing machine went into overdrive and the buzz surrounding the game was phenomenal but what many people seemed to miss was the real innovation behind the game, namely the Wii Balance Board.

Described by some as a glorified bathroom scale, this amazing peripheral is as revolutionary as the Wii Remote was when it was first launched, and like the Wii Remote, it will have Microsoft and Sony playing catch-up as they try to bring the same functionality to their consoles. When the excitement of Wii Fit dies down, it will be the Wii Balance Board that's remembered as the device that took gaming to the next level.

But there's quite a story behind this seemingly simple piece of kit which took months to develop and went through numerous prototypes of various shapes and sizes before it became the slim white board that's found itself at home in living rooms the world over.

A Scale For Miyamoto-san

Before you can understand the thinking behind the balance board you need to take a step back to understand the original vision that resulted in the need for such a peripheral. That vision was thanks to Shigeru Miyamoto, Nintendo's Senior Managing Director.

As the driving force behind games such as Pikmin and Nintendogs, Shigeru developed a reputation for creating games based on his personal hobbies. Wii Fit is no exception as the original concept for the game came from his interest in weighing himself and recording his weight on a daily basis. This led to the start of a project called 'Health Pack' which was later to become Wii Fit.

From the onset, the challenge was how to take something as simple as weighing yourself, something he enjoyed but many would see as mundane, and turn it into an activity that could be fun for the whole family. This proved to be a major challenge for the development team which, at one point, was on the verge of being broken up.

Two Scales Are Better That One

Progress on the game was slow until one of the developers brought in two scales after seeing how Sumo wrestlers have to use two scales to weigh themselves and the team suddenly realised that it was quite fun trying to balance evenly on both of them. It was at this point that measuring balance became the central theme of Wii Fit and the team started to consider using balancing exercises as a means of keeping fit.

Initial talks with scale manufacturers received little support and the team soon realised that they would have to develop their own device. It would also have to be more functional than an ordinary scale and so the idea developed of it measuring balance on four points. At this stage the team started to realise that it could be more than just a scale but actually a game interface.

Circles, Squares And Octagons

Once the overall concept of the balance board had been decided and that it would contain four sensors, work began on figuring out the optimum shape and size of the board together with the way it communicated with the Wii console. This proved to be a long process of trial and error and a constant battle between cost and usability.

Initial prototypes of the board were circular, and then square and even at one point octagonal but it soon became apparent that these shapes were impractical especially when considering exercises like push-ups. Once again, the solution came from Miyamoto who realised that a person's natural stance before training was to stand with their feet at about shoulder width apart so it was decided that the board would become more rectangular.

The second major challenge was deciding how the balance board would communicate with the Wii console. Initially, to keep costs down it was decided that the balance board would actually connect to the Wii Remote but that was soon seen as too much of a pain and the idea dropped. Eventually it was decided to rebuild the Wii Remote's wireless component from scratch to create a wireless module that could be built into the board itself.

Once these two major obstacles had been overcome it then became a process of fine-tuning the design, making sure that the board was strong enough to stand on and that it was safe to use. The end result was the revolutionary new peripheral that we see today.

What's Next For The Wii Balance Board?

Several members of the Wii Balance Board development team admitted that at first, they never really understood Shigeru Miyamoto's vision for such a device. But as the board took shape they began to see it as more than just an accessory that could weigh players. Even before Wii Fit was launched globally there was talk internally of possible Wiiware titles and even the possibility of a balance board version of Nintendo 1080? Snowboarding.

Fortunately for balance board fans, developers like Namco, EA Sports and Ubisoft have already committed to releasing exciting new titles in 2008. In fact, Namco's We Ski was already available with the launch of Wii Fit. Games like EA Skate It and Shaun White Snowboarding have been confirmed and more games are in the works. One thing is for sure and that is that Nintendo's latest innovation, the Wii Balance Board, has a bright future.

What the Heck Does Wii Stand For Anyway?

That's a great question! And one that is kind of difficult to answer, since the letters W-I-I do not really represent individual words. Like the good old U-S-A stands for United States of America, it's not the same with Wii. But what does Wii stand for?

When you first take a look at the word, it's uncertain just how it's pronounced, but it's simple enough, just like "we". But how did Nintendo decide on the name? Well Wii was not even a word until April 27, 2006. That's when Nintendo changed the name of its Seventh Generation gaming platform from its project name of Revolution.

The proper name Wii, according to Nintendo, is simply Wii and NOT Nintendo Wii. They are very clear on that. And that's huge because this is the very first product they have marketed outside of Japan that does not carry the Nintendo brand name. While you will hear people refer to more than one Wii as "Wii's", Nintendo makes clear that the plural is actually Wii Systems or Consoles or Games. The word Wii is not used in a plural form but only the object it describes.

But what does Wii stand for? Nintendo's spelling of "Wii" with two lower-case "i" characters is meant to resemble two people standing side by side, representing players gathering together, as well as to represent the Wii Remote and Nunchuk. The company has given many reasons for this choice of name since the announcement; however, the best known is Wii sounds like 'we', which emphasizes that the console is for everyone. Wii can easily be remembered by people around the world, no matter what language they speak. No confusion. No need to abbreviate. Just Wii.

What does Wii stand for today? Now more than ever before, Wii stands for innovative applications to wireless technology. Think about all of the different applications for this technology for a second. With the introduction of Wii Cooking Mama: Cook Off, and Wii Fit we start to see applications beyond all of the games for Wii.

The whole idea behind the Wii technology is to bring people together. With so many different applications available, the Wii Console is slowly becoming the home's media center.

Now, What does Wii stand for? What do you think now? Anything new?

Hey Nintendo Wii Owners! Here's How You Can Download Wii Games For Your System

As the proud new owner of a Nintendo Wii, you're probably wondering where you can download Wii games for your new system. We're here to help, and we've gotten a lot of emails from readers out there who have this very question - and we hope this helps out some of you.

The ability to download Wii games is a wonderful thing. A huge money saver, and far more convenient than making a trip to the store for new games.

Without further delay , let's see how to download Wii games right now!

Basically, there are two options:

The First Option - Wii Downloads

A web search will reveal a number of sites claiming to offer free Wii downloads. After installing their software, they claim, there will be all the free Wii downloads you could want available to you.

Sounds great, but be careful. Yes, there is a catch and you should be aware of the risks here.

These sites are often crawling with spyware, viruses and other things you don't want on your computer. Some of them have even been forced off of the internet because of this.

Since no one is keeping an eye of these websites, malicious types can upload viruses laden files. By downloading anything from these sites you are putting your computer at risk.

To make matters worse, downloads are extremely slow from these sites. Hours, even days can be spent on downloading a single file. Many of the files you will download from these sites are corrupt and will be unusable once you do finally finish that slow, slow download.

It's hard to recommend these sites to you - the wasted time and risk to your machine are simply not worth it.

Option #2 - Download Wii Games

Fortunately, there is a better option. This will let you download Wii games but not have the risk of viruses and unplayable games. Download speed will be much faster as well.

With the popularity of the Wii came the desire by the public to be able to download Wii games. Specialty Wii download websites have been created for this purposes, providing Wii games, video and music available for download.

Much easier than making a trip to an electronics shop, and cheaper too, these sites typically charge around $50 for a lifetime membership. You are billed only once and can log in anytime and download any Wii game or other file offered by the site.

You'll save a lot of money by downloading Nintendo Wii games as opposed to buying in stores. You can amass a large collection easily with these sites, which also offer all manner of other media files.

These sites include with your membership the needed software to get the games where you want them: onto your Wii. Setup is painless, usually taking about 10 minutes.

Nintendo Wii owners, you're in luck. Downloading Wii games from these sites will keep your gaming system stocked with the latest games. Be warned though, it can be habit forming!

Good News For Nintendo Wii Owners - The Easy Way To Download Wii Games On Your Computer

If you already have a Nintendo Wii (lucky you!) you're going to want some games for your system.

We've gotten a lot of emails from our readers asking where to download Wii games, so we've decided to help all of you out there with this article.

Not only can being able to download Wii games save you money, it also spares you having to run out to the shop for new games, which can take a lot of time you'd rather spend gaming.

Without further ado, this is how you can immediately begin downloading Wii games.

Basically, there are two choices:

The First Option - Wii Downloads

There are sites boasting of having free Wii downloads. They will want you to install their software, which will also be offered free of charge.

Understandably this is a tempting proposition. As you may have already figured out though, there are risks associated with getting your games this way.

A lot of these sites are notorious for being infested with spyware and viruses, among other sorts of malware. Some have even been shut down due to the damage they have caused.

Since these sites are rarely monitored in any meaningful way, it is child's play for those with bad intentions to upload infected files. You never know just what you're going to get when downloading from these sites, so caveat emptor (or downloader, as the case may be) here.

And talk about slow! Downloading a single file from these websites can take days. That's right, days! And after spending a lot of time downloading, these files as often as not are corrupted and thus unusable.

These sites are at best a waste of time and at worst a serious hazard to your computer. We cannot recommend any of these sites and feel they are best avoided altogether.

Option #2 - Download Wii Games

You'll be glad to hear that there is a much better way to download Wii games without having to expose your computer to viruses and spyware, or wait days for a download that doesn't work!

As the Wii has found its way into more homes, some forward thinkers saw the increasing demand for downloading Wii games, and stepped in to fill this void by making Wii download websites. Offering Wii games, videos and other media, these sites are perfect for any Wii owner.

These sites are membership based, with a lifetime membership costing usually only about $50 and allowing instant access to any Wii games or movies on the site 24/7.

For anyone with a Wii, this will save them a small fortune when building their Wii games library. Just compare with prices in any store selling games. Movies and music are often available as well, sweetening the deal.

Setup for these sites is quick and painless, usually taking no more than ten minutes to install and configure the necessary software to get those files onto your Wii where you can enjoy them. Following this article you'll find a link that will let you take a look at the most popular Wii download sites. You can even get a free trial, and see all that these sites have to offer you.

Downloading Wii games is an ideal way to keep your Wii exciting by having all of the latest games. Caution, however: it can be addictive!

Nintendo Wii Fit Bundle - A First Impression Review

Well, I've finally decided to get it. A few days ago, I finally made the difficult decision of purchasing the Nintendo Wii Fit Bundle. Alright I admit it, it's not really that difficult because I got it at a real bargain. When I received the package in the mail, I couldn't contain my excitement. After all, the Nintendo Wii Fit is the latest innovative games and workout machine out in the market today!

What's In The Nintendo Wii Fit Bundle?

As I unpack my Nintendo Wii Fit package anxiously, I notice that there are quite a number of items included. There's the Nintendo Wii game console (which I've also bought in addition to the bundle), the Wii Fit Balance Board and a peripheral of accessories such as the console stand, remote for the games console, nunchuck, AV adapter & cables. Included with the balance board is a disc of software which contains activities or exercises such as the yoga, body balance, muscle building and aerobic exercises and routines. My Wii game console also came with 5 Wii Sports games for Tennis, Bowling, Baseball, Golf and Boxing.

Now, you'll need the Wii game console before you can make use of Wii Fit system. When I was first planning my purchase, I noticed that there were many packages selling at rock bottom prices all over the web. But beware, most of them don't include the Wii game console! You're just paying for the bundle. In the end, you may end up paying more if you buy them separately. If you don't have the Wii game console, the more economic choice will be the Wii Fit full system as retailers tend to package the bundle with it at a more attractive price.

My Workout Experience On the Nintendo Wii Fit

After I setup the Wii Fit system, I started working out on it with a heart rate monitor strapped on my wrist. It took a while for me to get used to the menu navigation though frankly, they're pretty user friendly. It may take some time off the workout time but I'm sure that can be minimize once I get more familiar with the system.

What I've noticed was, some of the activities didn't gave me as good a workout as I expected. The soccer heading game was a disappointment and didn't even raise my heart rate above the minimum. And when I compared my statistics across activities such as the Yoga, Strength Training, Aerobic and Balance, the aerobic section stood out.

My favourite by far was the Hula Hoop game. As I tried to balance myself, keeping all the hoops in the air while catching some more, my heart beat was raised to 172bpm. Not only was it a good workout, it was pretty fun and enjoyable.

Perhaps you may be asking "So, do you think the Nintendo Wii Fit is a good way to lose weight?". Personally I don't think the Wii Fit can really help to lose much weight given the nature of the activities involved. Maybe a pound or two a week. But I'm sure they'll be quite effective in another department of your life.

Lifestyle and fun.

If you thought your television is something to passively gaze at when you are too tired to do anything else, Nintendo's Wii altered that thinking by linking interactivity to your TV. Since Wii is a gaming console, there are 208 (at last count) WiiWare games for every age group, interest, exercise level for both adults and children. If your preferred game type is adventure and action-Wii's most prolific--Wii has games for you. Ditto for puzzles, sports, fitness, and racing. The health and exercise games designed for every fitness level can be done in the comfort of your home. Even though the Wii ships with an AV cable, AC adapter, and console stand, there are other accessories that you might want and need. The console and the games are just the beginning of the Wii experience. Accessories are plentiful and enticing for Wii aficionados to add their Wii enjoyment. Many are sold by Wii, made by manufacturers approved by Wii, or made by other manufacturers and are available at stores such as Best Buy, Toys R Us, Target, and from online sources.

Controllers take on a life of their own when it comes to accessories. The Wii Remote Controller (including a "jacket") eliminates the lack of portability of the joystick and gives you free motion. It is motion-sensing for a perfect tennis or baseball swing, is effective up to 10 feet away, and can accommodate up to four players at once. It comes with a speaker and has ports for additional Wii accessories. About the same size as a TV remote but with fewer buttons, it is easy to use right out of the box. There is even an accessory to the controller accessory--the Wii MotionPlus-that gives the player more precision with specific games such as basketball. Wii Sensor Bar also works with controllers for motions made by the arm. Another have-to-have is the Nunchuk that hooks up to the controller, is also sensitive to motion, and provides flexibility in moving characters around during games. Ever expanding the collection of controllers, Wii offers the Classic Controller allowing you wireless connectivity to the console. It may be required for some games and it may or may not be compatible with all games, so a little homework is needed before purchasing. The wrist strap for the controller keeps it securely in your hand so the excitement of the game doesn't cause it to flip out of your hand.

Remember the statement about passively staring at the TV. Wii loves interaction and participation and proves it by an array of fitness accessories. The Balance Board makes it impossible not to participate. It will get you out of your recliner and into exercise. It comes with Wii Fit Plus software and senses your weight, balance, and feet movement as you do your exercise routines. It will give you a reality check (whether you want it or not) on your balance, your Body Mass Index based on your height and weight to determine your fitness or lack thereof, your Wii Fit "age" based on your balance assessment and your chronological age, tracks the amount of activity you do, and customizes routines for you to reach your fitness goals. When you don't have time, don't want to join a gym, or don't want to be embarrassed, exercising in the privacy of your own home is the answer with a Wii. It just might be fun as well as healthy and motivating. You can check the number of calories burned, chart your progress daily, and choose yoga and strength-building exercises. And you can purchase a silicone sleeve to keep the board looking new. An addition is the aerobics step platform that goes under the balance board to raise it four inches for intensive step aerobics. Two-pound dumbbells (remote and Nunchuck required) adds more punch to your aerobics with strength and cardio exercises. Gold's Gym Cardio Workout guides you through cardio exercises including boxing, push-ups, and jogging and uses the board for extra intensity. Boxing gloves enhance the play of the sports and cardio boxing games offered by Wii. Just when you thought there wasn't any other piece of gear to get you moving, someone suggests padded socks to wear when using the balance board. They are flexible, breathable, and secure. Remember activity is in-passivity is out!

Dance pads or mats with a rubber base to prevent slippage are a great way to get people up and dancing by just following the arrows. Two or more dancers will make the party even more interesting so invest in a couple of these. Children love music and dancing so let them come to your parties. Dance Dance Revolution Hottest Party game featuring the greatest hits of the 60's, 70's, 80's, and 90's includes one dance pad. For a healthier workout, add the Balance Board for more intense dancing. This game is as much for couch potatoes as for skilled dancers. It also includes a way to measure the calories you burned. Dancing is great fun and a lot less boring than the treadmill, so put on your dancing shoes and get moving. If you aren't into dancing, a wireless guitar that attaches to the remote through the Nunchuk just might get you into the music.

If racing and driving gaming is your thrill, you need the Wii Wheel to make the games more adventurous. The Wheel is intuitive, accurate, and realistic. It snaps into the remote controller (which is needed for the Wheel to function) and has its own set of games that works with it such as Mario Kart Wii, F1 2009, and Need for Speed: Nitro. Take the wheel and feel the rush of speed and control as never before-from the comfort of your family room. For games involving shooting, the Nyko Perfect Shot looks like a pistol with a sight for accuracy, trigger, and the ability to slide into the remote. As with other accessories, a Nunchuk is required to use the Perfect Shot.

If you haven't gotten the idea that one Wii accessory requires yet another one, there is the Wii Zapper that links the remote controller and the Nunchuk. (As a review, remember that these two are purchased separately.) Assembly is required-just attach the Nunchuk and the remote controller to the Zapper. Since is comes with crossbow training software and since the name says it all, it is particularly handy for games involving shooting and moving. The Zapper is recommended for games such as Dead Space Extraction, Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles, and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare: Reflex Edition.

Wii Speak gives people in different locations the ability to chat provided they have Friend Codes with each other. Sitting on your TV, the Speak is a microphone for the Wii console and enables you to talk or send a voice message to friends who also have a Speak. While not Wii accessories, it requires a router and high-speed Internet. Sometimes it comes with the Animal Crossing software where you customize your town and use the Speak microphone to talk to other players online. Not everyone will be fascinated by this accessory, but it gives the feeling of connection to the players.

Then there are adapters and cables. The AC Adapter powers the console and fits any 110-volt outlet while the LAN Adapter connects the console to the Internet in the absence of a router. Cables include the Wii Component Video Cable for connecting the console to an HDTV for enhanced viewing and the Wii AV Cables for connecting the console to inputs on a TV, DVD player, or VCR.

Always having remotes ready for use requires a charge system with either flat cradles or a stand-up model to hold the remotes via magnets with green and red LED lights indicating the status of the charge. Included with the charging system are an AC power cord, covers, and two rechargeable battery packs. Up to two remotes can be charged at the same time giving you fully charged remotes to assure that the competitive spirit of the moment will not be interrupted when a battery fails.

A gaming memory card by SanDisk provides extra memory in case your Wii internal memory is almost full. To stop a game that you want to continue at a later time, the card provides 2GB of memory to save games, and download photos and games from the Internet. Even though you wanted to continue the game but your son's baseball game was priority, you have the peace of mind of knowing that you can pick up the game at the exact place where you were when you stopped playing.

The start-up Wii is about $200 and some gadgets cost upward to $100 with many, however, around $10. Even though some Wii accessories have small prices, accumulating the ones you want might end up costing you a bundle. You can even buy the Wii Lens Cleaning Kit to keep your console operating effectively. Welcome to the wonderful wide world of Wii accessories.
