Wiidom - Did the Wii Change Gaming?

It's been four years since the release of the Nintendo Wii and a lot has been said about the revolutionary and controversial gaming console. Join us as we take a look at all the hype, the hate, and the realities of the Nintendo Wii gaming console.

Not so long ago, the Wii spurred heated debate among fans and detractors alike. Some saw the family friendly games and motion control technology of the Wii as groundbreaking. It was to be the family television of the gaming industry. A Wii for every living room with a joyful family gathered around it. Meanwhile the Sony PS3 and Xbox 360 were seen as outdated and overpriced, appealing only to hardcore gamers.?

On the other hand, many saw the Wii as a step backwards, as the console could hardly compete with the XBOX 360 or the PS3 in terms of hardware. The system was dismissed outright as catering solely to casual gamers. Sony CEO Jack Tretton famously said the Wii was a "lollipop," referring to the system's motion controllers, and that he was "too old for lollipops."?

Four years later, and things have settled down. Gamers on either end of the console-wars spectrum have had to give some ground. Jack Tretton specifically had to eat his words, as Sony announced its own "lollipop" motion controllers for the PS3.?

Hardcore gamers have recognised the appeal of Wii games like Zelda Twilight Princess, Metroid Prime, and the New Super Mario Bros. As for becoming the family gaming giant, Wii activity games like Wii Fit and Wii Music have indeed enjoyed moderate success. However, while Nintendo has been able to compete thus far, time has revealed flaws in the Wii's design.

Recently, the Wii console has seen steady stagnation in terms of game development. Due partially to its hardware limitations, the Wii has isolated many major game studios from producing games for it. The console has also seen much of its limelight stolen by music games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, which offer even greater interactivity than the Wii.?

In fact, far from being the innovator it set out to be, the Wii has launched a multitude of low-budget and clunky games. Meanwhile, the PS3 has rocketed in popularity with decreased console prices and big game releases from big name console and PC developers like Squaresoft and Bioware.?

In the end, the Wii proved to be neither the moon landing of the game industry or the crash-and-burn catastrophe that was predicted. The console introduced many great ideas and broadened the scope of gaming considerably, but it never came close to toppling the goliaths of the gaming industry.

Using the Wii - How to Get the Most From Your Wii Gaming System

When Nintendo first released the Wii, no one really expected it to be much more than just another gaming console. How wrong we all were! The Wii has become a gaming console that appeals to all - young and old. So, how can you get the most from your Wii?

Using the Wii would let you experience the epitome of video games. No one expected it to be used by both the young and older generations alike. Most of the kids that have waited in line for their own Wii have never expected that their parents would also be playing and would compete with their time on the console. What is even more unbelievable is that adults are actually instructed to do it as part of physical therapy. Hence the reconditioning and strengthening of the muscles is one of the ways to get the most of the gaming console. Retraining and retaining balance is aided by balance games. Because of the various accessories that can be utilized for the Wii, games have become more realistic, making it more exciting than a traditional workout.

It may sound hard to believe, but it all makes sense when you take a closer look at the benefits of using the Wii. You can play games from the privacy of your own home and you do not have to drive yourself to a gym. You can fit your playing within a busy schedule and there are a lot of exercises that can fulfill a variety of common goals for therapy. The Wii then is like a huge exercise arena that has been made to fit in a small box.

Using the Wii would also allow you to introduce activities that are both current and have a high usage level for both men and women. The Wii is actually a great form of entertainment which is very versatile. If you are trying to build teamwork of your associates, you can have a corporate dinner night that is Olympic themed. The guests could play the Wii on a rotational basis or do it at their own leisure during the event or after it. Try to improve on the theme by incorporating special effects such as backdrops and lighting.

What is great about using the Wii for this kind of activity is that it can be played by men, women and children of all ages. They can have better interaction with each other since the event would have more fun and energy. Not a lot of gadgets can provide the kind of indoor team exercises that the Wii can provide and if you are not sure on whether or not you are going to provide indoor or outdoor facilities to an event because of the weather, making use of the Wii would be a safe choice.

As you can see, the Wii gaming system can be enjoyed by everyone, no matter your age or coordination. Have you tried the Nintendo Wii yet?

Want to Buy a Wii Without Breaking the Bank?

There's no time like the present to buy a Nintendo Wii. Why, you might ask? Nintendo has recently dropped the price from it's original $250 tag to a much more reasonable $199 price. Not bad for a console that comes with an entire game package!

But take caution before you just go out and buy a Wii. There's a few things you should know. First, it is just plain addicting. I can play for hours without getting bored. Even better, I can have fun with my entire family because the Wii accommodates more than just one or two players like other game consoles.

1. Wii Sports is included: That's right; unlike its competitors that make you buy each game separately, the Wii comes with five sports games to enjoy before you ever need to make another purchase. These include tennis, bowling, golfing, baseball, and boxing.

2. Exercise habit: Forget about buying that treadmill. I sweat way more on my Wii than I do on any exercise equipment I've ever owned. When I first played the Wii, I actually got sore playing it because it took so much muscle to play! So it's a great way to get up and off the couch without buying a membership to your local gym.

3. Multiple people can play: Unlike PS3 and XBOX, more than two people can play at a time on the Nintendo Wii. So if you buy a Wii console for the purpose of getting the family together to have fun, you won't be disappointed.

The Nintendo Wii console is definitely worth the money. And since it's less than even buying a regular game console like a Sony PlayStation, you'll get a lot more for your buck.

You can buy a Nintendo Wii or find out in more detail just how much fun a Wii can be right here at http://entertainmentelectronics.blogspot.com/2009/09/buy-wii-for-cheap-nintendo-slashes-wii.html.

Wii Game Copies

Thousands of you are looking for how to copy your Wii games.

Nintendo has set your Wii so that if the console is opened even just once... the warranty on your Wii is voided. Not only is the warranty voided.... from the moment you open your Wii you will be unable to process the regular updates on your Wii.

Common sense tells you to avoid any program offered to do anything that asks you to open your Wii console.

So what do you do if you want to make Wii game copies? Is it even legal to do that? If so... is there software somewhere that will do it for you?

It is legal to copy Wii games. However.... there is a lot of promotions for copying Wii games out there that you have to watch out for.

There are several guides that pretend to be software. It turns out they are only guides to certain software.. and usually it is software that proves to be completely unreliable and even dangerous to your Wii.

The guides are just that.. guides that show you how to use the software that will not work.

There are other methods offered that ask you to do just what Nintendo warns you not to do... to open your Wii console. Stay away from any program that wants you to do that if you want to keep your warranty in place and be able to continue to update your Wii.

There is a "do it yourself" method of copying Wii games that is long and complicated and fine for techies who eat and sleep technology. That most likely is not you or you would be busy redoing your Wii to copy your games instead of reading this.

There are only a handful of legitimate software programs that will make good clean copies of your Wii games.

After researching all of them.... and getting feedback from users.. I have come to the conclusion that there are only a handful of software programs out there for making copies of Wii games that is worthy of buying.

In your hunt for a good program there are certain points you want to look for and you should search until you find one that meets all or most of these points.

You want to make sure it makes good solid, clean, complete and playable backup copies every time. Many of them make very sloppy incomplete copies which prove to be just a wasted disc.
You do not want a program for which you will need a college degree in technology to be able to run it.
You may be looking for just Wii game copies right now... but you should look for software that will copy almost any game made by any company... whether it be Xbox, Xbox 360, PC3, Gamecube, Dreamcast.
It should also copy any video you wish to copy.. including your movies and video files off the computer.
You want one solid complete software program that will solve all your DVD backup worries... Wii and anything else you may have invested in.
In addition....you want a piece of software that is affordable.

The software you are looking for will be the best investment you make to protect your Wii game investment.

Therefore.. you want to make sure you find a program that will meet all of the above points.

Once you have found that software... your question will have been answered.... problem solved.

Amy has been testing backup software for the Nintendo Wii for most of the past eight months. You can see her results here... the Wii Game Backup.

What Are the Best Nintendo Wii Games?

If you are considering getting a Wii, or maybe you already have one, you are always wondering: what are the best Wii games? With hundreds of titles to choose from, you can get lost in all of the gaming possibilities the console has to offer. I have compiled a list to assist you though, these are among the best Wii games you should put in your library.

If you own a Wii you are likely familiar with Wii Sports. This came comes with any new console purchase and features a limited array of popular sports the whole family can enjoy. Nintendo liked the idea so much that they recently released a second edition that you can separately purchase entitled Wii Sports Resort. This game features some of the sports of the first, and so many more. Some of the new editions to the line up include: some swordplay, table tennis, Frisbee, archery, cycling and many more. So check it out.

Another title to check out is Super Mario Bros Wii. Nintendo just recently released this incredible title in hopes to give the 1980s classic a much-needed face-lift. Staying true to the design though, the new Super Mario is also side scrolling and two dimensional, very much like its inspiration. Some new features are character selection and a multiplayer feature that allows you and up to three others to simultaneously attempt to complete levels.

Super Smash Bros. Brawl was one of the most hyped releases in Wii history. Previous installments of the title had seen incredible success on the Nintendo Gamecube, and so everyone waited patiently for the latest the Wii had to offer. They did not falter. This game allows you and up to three other friends battle one another simultaneously as some of the most unforgettable characters of gaming history. This game will surely be a great addition to your library.

Mario Kart is another title that was released by Nintendo before. It saw its debut on the Super Nintendo, but even more success when it was released again as Mario Kart: Double Dash on the Nintendo Gamecube. This game allows you to use motion sensitive controls to twist and turn your way to victory over some classic Mario Bros. Characters. Play with your friends or family to see who deserves to win the cup.

Nintendo has been striving to make it self-applicable to the individual as well. Not everyone has a whole house full of people to play with them all the time. You can benefit then, from titles like The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess. In this installment of the incredible Zelda franchise, you might be refreshed to know that not a whole lot has changed around Hyrule. You are still Link, you have some love for the princess Zelda, and before you can really do anything about it you have to head off to save the world... Again. The motion sensitive controls add a new dynamic to the game play by allowing you to really swordfight, block, and shoot your bow and arrow.

The last one on this list is Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This title showcased a side of Nintendo that many were delighted to see. They are the kings of family games, but they might also have the capacity to bring you some incredible mature titles as well. This installment of the popular franchise sends you through battle situations unlike anything you have seen in the franchise history. You will find that using the motion controls allows you to experience the game as most will not get the chance, if they opt to play on a different console.

That is a detailed list of some of the best Wii games that are in stores now. You are likely to find other great titles, but if you are looking as to where you should begin. Start with paragraphs 2-7.

Do you know what the Best Wii Games are right now? If not look online and find a bunch of information. Even buy the following things wii accessories, guitar hero wii, wii controller too.

Wii Disc Read Error Fix

If you are getting the Wii disc read error, then you've basically lost half more than the functionality of the console. Below are some tips for a Wii will not read disc fix!

Check the disc that you are putting into the Wii for any dirt or scratches. These may prevent the laser from reading the data on the disc resulting in the Wii disc read error. If the disc is dirty, clean it by gently wiping from the center to the outside with a soft cloth, then try reinserting it. If it still does not read the disc, try inserting another disc into the Wii to see if it is that specific disc that the Wii will not read.

If the Wii still refuses to read discs, try turning it off (if you have WiiConnect24 enabled turn that off before turning off the Wii) and when the red light appears unplug the adaptor. Wait a few minutes, plug it back in and insert the disc.

Unfortunately, if that does not work, the lens may be dirty. Dusts sometimes find its way inside the disc drive and settle on the lens. Over time this dust may build up on the lens and may result in the laser being unable to penetrate through the dust leading to the Wii disc read error. If this is the case, try getting a Wii lens cleaning kit.

If none of these tips work, you may have a more serious problem. You basically have 2 options to get your Wii fixed:

Send it to Nintendo- I would recommend this if your Wii is still under warranty since the creators will be doing the repairs, and you shouldn't have to pay the repair costs. However, if you warranty has run out, you may have to pay $50 and up for a Wii disc fix. Also you will have to wait a few weeks to get your Wii back.

Repair it yourself- This is the cheaper and faster option for those people whose warranty has expired. Repairing the Wii by yourself is possible, but it is crucial that you have a good Wii repair guide. A good Wii repair guide will contain:

-Step by step instructions with pictures so that you can easily understand what to do
-Some sort of support like email support so that you can ask for help if you get stuck
-A money back guarantee in case the guide doesn't work, you can get your money back

To fix the Wii disc read error yourself, you need to get a good Wii repair guide, otherwise you stand the chance of further damaging your console. Check out these 2 good repair guides. But don't take my word for it, see for yourself if they are good!

Wii Troubleshooting Is Important If You Want to Get the Max Pleasure Out of Your Wii Experience

The importance of Wii troubleshooting cannot be understated. Just imagine this... You excitedly go to a video store and even more excitedly, you hire the latest Nintendo Wii games. Then you just rush home in anticipation of all the fun you are going to have in the next few hours with your games. You put the game into the Wii and then your whole world shatters. You get an error and you do not know what to do about it.

Your day or night has just turned black What do you do when you encounter such Wii problems? What do you do when it comes to Wii repair? It is no joke at all when you are so excited and desperately itching to play the games and you encounter such an unexpected issue. But, the sad truth is that you are not the only one to be confronted with such an issue. There are many other Wii owners that face the very same problem that you are facing.

Wii console troubleshooting can be frustrating

There is no doubt at all that this can be very irritating, but this kind of issue is not limited just to the Nintendo Wii - maybe you will derive a bit of solace from that fact. So, when you have a Wii system and you come up with some kind of an error code, what can be done to get it fixed so that you can get back to your fun?

What's in a number?

These numbers are indications of errors that you get. But how do you know what number represents what? There could be different kinds of error codes that you get for issues like: Wii troubleshooting no power, Wii troubleshooting unable to read disc, Wii controller troubleshooting, Wii troubleshooting remote - but the point is how do you figure out what the error code represents?

Here are a few error codes for you to know how to trouble shoot the system:
Code 32002:Indicates that there is a problem with your Wii internet setting.
Code 32003:The Wii internal memory does not have sufficient space for installation of recent updates to be carried out.
Code 32004:Indication that you will have to wait for a few hours as there is a high traffic volume being experienced by the Nintendo servers.

The Nintendo Wii is a lot of fun, so it's best to get used to Wii troubleshooting, to get the maximum pleasure out of your Wii.

What People Think of Bundling the Nintendo Wii Sports

The Wii has gained notoriety given that its launching from the four key markets in December of 2006. The concept from the Wii was 1st spoken of through the E3 press conference in 2004. Later, it was unveiled at the 2005 E3 when Satoru Iwata showed a prototype with the controller at the Tokyo Video game Show in 2005.

Because it was very first made readily available in the states in November of 2006 the Nintendo Wii sporting activities bundle is selling like pancakes. Youngsters and adults alike are raving about how cool the Nintendo Wii Sports activities Bundle is. During its debut in the 2006 E3, Nintendo Wii won the Ideal Hardware and Ideal of Display Awards from the Game Critics Awards. Every reputable gaming magazine is also hailing the Wii as the video game console breakthrough. The Wii even got an Emmy from The National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences for Game Controller Innovation.

The question that begs to be answered is: Why is Wii so common? What does Wii have that PS3 and XBOX360 can't simply surpass its fan base?

The media has been whining about how our kids are obtaining unhealthier by the day, due to technology (i.e. video games) so Nintendo came up with all the revolutionary gaming console that is Nintendo Wii. Inadvertently it seems that aside from addressing the dilemma of our kids becoming couch potatoes Wii has provided interactive gaming that makes the player feel like he or she is really inside video game.

The most motivating factor within the rise on the Wii is the Wii Athletics Bundle. They sell the console together with 5 cool sports video game. You can genuinely express yourself when you play the Wii.

Unfortunately we've been seeing some analysts propose that the Wii Sports be unbundled. Why you may possibly ask? Well their line of reasoning revolves around the suggestion that if you break the Wii sports activities bundle the price in the console itself which is currently $249 might be lowered to $199 to make it "more affordable". Additionally the analyst is insinuating that the Nintendo Wii Sports activities bundle sales are heading for a decline and that if it truly is unbundled then it ought to grow strong again by 2009.

Very first of all Wii's popularity is because of the fact that it can be being sold as a bundle. Second, how can the Nintendo Wii Sports Bundle be heading into decline when, even as we speak, Nintendo is scrambling to fill in all the orders. The demand is exceeding the obtainable supply albeit the 1.8 million consoles Nintendo is shelling out a month.

Lastly Nintendo Wii Sports bundle is so well-known not only using the younger demographics but also the older ones. Some folks are even saying that they do not buy any other games after purchasing a Nintendo Wii sports bundle. Why mess with a excellent thing, when people are perfectly happy with all the Nintendo Wii sporting activities Bundle just as it's?

Using an HDMI Connection With the Wii

Nintendo does not make their Wii HDMI, (High Definition Multi Interface) compatible. In today's market virtually all HDTVs, (High Definition Televisions), are equipped with HDMI. Nintendo engineers usually are one step ahead of technology, but in this case they were one step behind. As usual, technology finds a way to solve these issues. Third party hardware makes adapters which enable HDMI for Wii, via a Wii cable. The adapters pose advantages and problems. The advantages include increased visual quality of Wii games, the ability to connect your Wii to your television, computer or other devices, and the use of only one cord in connecting your console to your television, while the problems include little visual improvement of Wii games and the risk of the adapter producing anomalies in some games.

One advantage of making your Wii HDMI compatible is that it improves the visual quality of games. Some adapters do not improve visual quality, while some do. The problem is that Wii games were not designed with HDMI technology in mind. HDMI was a new technology when Wii was developed and Nintendo engineers were not sure it would take hold. There are Wii HDMI cables available with video upscale processors that improve visual quality of Wii games. If you upgrade, do extra research and buy the best quality adapter on the market.

Another advantage of making your Wii HDMI compatible, via Wii cable, is you can connect your console to modern devices with HDMI technology like your television or your computer. The advantage of being able to connect your console to multiple devices cannot be understated. It increases the fun.

One other advantage is the use of only one cord to connect your console to your television or computer. In today's age of high technology it is almost unheard of to have a big wad of cords leading from one device to another. Buying the adapter prevents this problem.

One disadvantage is a lack of improvement in overall video quality. As stated before, some adapters improve quality, while others do not. The best quality adapters generally improve quality, so do extra research and buy the best adapter.

Another disadvantage is that even with improved quality, often the adapters cause anomalies in certain games. This is a hit or miss problem. The best thing to do about this problem, with games you really love, is keep both cords handy. Generally, it is not too hard to connect and disconnect your console from your television. The real disadvantage is having all the extra cords lying around, cluttering up the place.

Third party Wii HDMI kits make your Wii console HDMI compatible. These kits have advantages as well as disadvantages as discussed above. For serious gamers, HDMI for Wii, via Wii cable adapter provides a necessary improvement in video quality. For casual users, the cord is probably not necessary. Retailers online and at game stores everywhere provide these kits for as little as $25.00 and for as much as $40.00. Buy the best quality adapter to prevent some of the problems associated with the conversion.

Wii Freezing Fix

The Wii is responsible for keeping you safe from the clutches of boredom. Its ease of use coupled with fun, interactive games and the amazing ability of turning your movements into actions is the reason for it being one of the most popular and fun console today. So it is a terrible thing when the Wii starts to freeze. The fixes for this problem depends on when the Wii freezes. It basically breaks down to weather the Wii freezes during gameplay or if it freezes at a menu screen. Below are some possible causes and fixes for the Wii freezing problem:

If the Wii freezes during gameplay, it may be a problem with the game; for example the game CD may be too scratched up for it to work properly in the Wii, the game may have bugs in it etc. Try playing another game to see if that is the problem.

Overheating can also cause the Wii to freeze either in gameplay, menu screen...or anywhere for that matter. Overheating is mainly caused by 2 factors:

1) The Wii not places in a well-ventilated area
2) Dust buildup inside the Wii

If your Wii is not in a well-ventilated area, then it may not be able to cool effectively resulting in the overheating problem. If your console has overheated due to this, leave it to cool in a well-ventilated area, for a few hours. Afterward, always play it in a well-ventilated area so that it does not overheat again.

Dust buildup inside the Wii may also cause overheating. This is more common in older Wiis. Over time, dust will find its way inside the Wii and settle on the internal components. This dust traps heat and makes it harder for the Wii to keep cool. If this is causing the Wii to overheat, try using a can of compressed air to remove the dust.

If unfortunately, none of those tips work, you are left with 2 options:

1) Let Nintendo repair it- I would recommend this solution if your Wii is still under warranty since the creators will be repairing it, and you shouldn't have to pay for the repairs. If you are one of the unfortunate people whose warranty has expired, you can be charged $50 and up for a Wii repair. Also all Wii's that are sent to Nintendo for repairs take few weeks before they are returned. That's a very, very long wait for a Wii freezing fix.

2) Fix the Wii yourself- It is possible to fix the Wii yourself, but you will need a good Wii repair guide. The advantages of having such a guide is that you determine how long it takes for the Wii to be repaired, many good repair guides cost less than $30 dollars and they do not require any special tools.

To fix the Wii freezing problem yourself, you need to get a good Wii repair guide, otherwise you stand the chance of further damaging your console. Check out these 2 good Wii repair guides. But don't take my word for it, see for yourself if they are good!

Discover How to Instantly Download Wii Games for Your System - It's Easy!

The Nintendo Wii has already set all sorts of sales records for a game system. It was completely sold out for a long time and even now the stores are having a hard time keeping it on the shelves. If you are a lucky owner, lets have a look at how to download Wii games so you can get new games whenever you want.

Surprisingly, many people are not aware that downloading Wii games is a possibility. Many PSP owners have been using downloads for a long time now -- you can do the same thing for your Nintendo Wii.

Where is the best place to find these downloads? You have two options -- let's take a look at them.

Option Number OneYou can find a few websites that advertise having free Nintendo Wii downloads. These websites certainly sound great at first, but there are a few things you should know before you hit that download button.

The main problem with these websites is that you run the risk of downloading viruses or spyware. In fact there have been many websites in recent months that have been shut down for this exact reason

Besides running the risk of damaging your computer, you will also find that many of the downloads are corrupt -- meaning they won't work at all. Considering how slow the downloads are, it can be a huge pain waiting days for a game to finish downloading only to find out that it doesn't work.

You will also find that the files are labeled incorrectly. The game that you think you are downloading will end up being something completely different. This can be a real headache.

If you do decide to try this option, be extra careful with what you are downloading. Most people will just skip it and go straight for the second option.

Option Number TwoThere are companies that have put together specialty Nintendo Wii download websites. You can download not only the newest games, but also movies, TV shows and music.

As you might expect, these websites do charge a membership fee. The companies pay good money to have access to the latest games and other files so they need to charge fees to maintain their websites. The cost isn't expensive (about $40-$50) and lets you download as many games as you want, whenever you want.

These websites are extremely easy to use once you get the hang of it. The software to transfer games to your Nintendo Wii is included and it only takes about three minutes to get going. All you need to do whenever you want to get a new game or movie is to login to the website and search for the game you want.

You can learn how to get a free trail at a couple of the top-ranked Wii download websites at http://www.my-wii-downloads.com. Once you get started you will see just how easy it really is.

Try to avoid any website that also charges a monthly fee. You can find websites that only charge a one time fee for a lifetime membership. After the first charge you won't ever be billed again. It's tremendous value for your money.

There is no doubt that the Nintendo Wii will continue to fly off the shelves. It's a game system that is popular with all age ranges and is full of all sorts of features. Once you start to download Wii games it's like opening a whole new world for your system. Find a trusted and reliable Wii download website and you will be on your way. Happy gaming!
