Results Are In: Nintendo Wii vs Sony PlayStation 3 (PS3)

So which of these two games systems is better? It had been a much anticipated wait, but finally both of these consoles have arrived. The Sony PlayStation 3 was the first to arrive on November 17th, with the Nintendo Wii only two days later, on the 19th. Which one should you buy? Who had the most successful launch? Read on to discover the answers!

Units available at Launch -

Sony PlayStation 3:

After many notable delays and production problems, Sony was finally able to release its PlayStation 3 console in order to meet the Christmas rush; Well not quite. Sony was indeed able to release its system; however this shipment numbers were nowhere near what was expected. It was estimated that only 500,000 units arrived up to the end of the year. This made it very difficult for anyone hoping to get their hands on a PS3 for Christmas last year.

Nintendo Wii:

In view of the extremely popularity of the Wii, it has still been difficult to get your hands on one at the moment. However, Nintendo planned to ship over four million units worldwide by the end of 2006. This was easily able to dwarfs the efforts of Sony with it Playstation 3 numbering at 500,000 units. A continues supply of Wii consoles are being shipped on a weekly basis to retailers in order to make it easier to get a Wii with each passing week.

Games to Play -

Sony PlayStation 3:

When it comes to the current crop of games for the PS3, it is generally thought that there are not really any special games worth getting at the moment. I have had the pleasure of playing the PS3 and most if its games. The most impressive games at presents seems to be Resistance: Fall of Man. There is no doubt that better games will be making their way onto the system, but there is no point in holding your breath for them. Games such as Metal Gear Solid 4 and Final Fantasy 13 are not expected to arrive until late 2007 or early 2008

Nintendo Wii:

For the first time in its history, Nintendo released a Zelda game at the consoles launch. There is not doubt that this launch title is the best game available on the Wii. In fact, it is widely believed to be the best ever Zelda game. Another point to take into consideration is the variety of games that are available. Nintendo and its third-party developers have covered all the bases. No matter your preference, sports games or shooting games, there is plenty to choose from.

This Topics Winner: Wii

Graphics:

Sony PlayStation 3:

There is not really any doubt as to who is going to win this contest. Although, the first crop of games to arrive do not even come close to realizing the full potential of the Playstation 3 in terms of graphics, the current games are still much prettier than those of the Wii.

Nintendo Wii:

As Nintendo has now taken a different approach for this generation console, it is less concerned about graphics. Although this certainly does not mean that the games look bad. You certainly will not get anyway near the same level of realism that you would get on the PS3 or Xbox 360. To get an ideal of its capabilities, the graphical power of the Wii is a little stronger than that of the original Xbox.

This Topics Winner: PlayStation 3

Retail Price:

Sony PlayStation 3:

There is two different version of the PlayStation 3. You have the choice of the $499.99 version or the $599.99 version. No, I did not make any typos with the prices. Although both systems are similar, the more expensive version comes with, among other things, a larger hard drive. It is expected that over 80% of the PlayStation 3 consoles delivered will be the $599.99 version. All this tends to make the $499.99 version fairly obsolete. Both versions have the ability to play Blu-Ray DVD discs. One remote and all necessary cable are included within the box.

Nintendo Wii:

The current retail price of the Nintendo Wii stands at $249.99. Included in the box are: the Wii games console, Wii Sports (a game featuring 5 different sports), the regular Wii-remote, as well as the nun-chuk attachment, and all necessary cables and adapters.

This Topics Winner: Wii

Overall Final Score: Nintendo Wii = 3 vs. Sony PlayStation 3 = 1

The Final Verdict:

At the present time the Wii is the obvious choice for all gamers right now. The cheap price, excellent launch games, and fantastic innovation make it the console of choice right now.

Download Wii Games - Where To Download Games For Nintendo Wii?

The popularity of the new Wii console has led a lot of us to wonder if we can download Wii games. A quick search online turns up lots of sites offering Wii game downloads and talking about the possibility of getting these games. However, it can be hard to tell which sites are reliable, safe from viruses, and provide quality games.

A good Wii download site will offer both older games and new releases. The Wii's support for classic Nintendo games means that you have the ability to download your old favorites, as well as the flashiest new games. If you want to download Wii games, look for a site that offers a good variety. Don't give your information or money to any site you don't trust, or that feels shady. Stick to well designed sites that won't sell your information or fill your computer with malware.

Generally, you'll find that there are two different kinds of sites on the web offering Wii game downloads. Some charge a price per file download. Others allow you access to an unlimited number of games for a flat fee. Which you choose will depend on how many games you need. If you want to download Wii games extensively, an unlimited site will be your best choice. If you are just looking for that one special game you can't find anywhere else, however, paying by the download will be cheaper.

To download Wii games, some sites may require you to download special software. This software will either connect to the site's main server, or to other users of the site, allowing you to download the Wii games you want. Remember, to play downloaded games on your computer, you'll also have to be able to find an emulator that operates the way the Nintendo console would.

If you want to download Wii games, it's easy to find a place that offers them. However, choosing where you want to download from can be a little bit harder. Look carefully at all the available sites offering games for download before you pick one. You could be downloading the latest Wii games, or your old favorites, within a few minutes of registering.

Is the Wii Fit a Fad Or a Serious Piece of Equipment?

Since the dawn of the time there have always been fads which offer groundbreaking methods to keep you slim. From Jane Fonda workout LP's through exercise bikes, rollerblading and beyond we now find ourselves worshipping at the feet of the Wii Fit.

As you are probably aware Nintendo's Wii Fit offers a series of computer generated exercises which claim to be not only fun but actually give you a serious work out too, the results of which are charted via easy to digest graphics triggered from the balance board. The balance board not only measures your performance but obtains data such as your weight which alongside your height, age and gender determines your BMI (Body Mass Index). To gauge this accurately you must weigh yourself on a hard, flat surface and at a regular time every day ie. first thing in the morning.

So to get the best results, not only do you need a Wii Console (sounds obvious but some people don't know), you need discipline to keep this up!

So does the Wii Fit actually work?

The Wii Fit alone is not going to turn you into an Olympian, you've still got to watch what you eat and treat the Wii Fit as just one part of a overall weight loss programme. Additional clean living and a healthy diet is vital, remember if you go to the gym for an hour then pig out on Ben and Jerry's afterwards you aren't going to see much benefit, the same rule applies here.

True, it is an impressive piece of kit but you've got to bring more to the table than the desire for a quick fix. A quick fix of fun yes, but the no pain no gain rule applies here also. If you eat excessively and expect to lose weight doing 15 minutes a day on the Wii Fit, then think again! It comes back to discipline again, don't use the Wii Fit as the answer to all your prayers. It could be, but not if you keep piling on the 'prayers'!

However, what the Wii Fit does provide is motivation - the motivation to get you started. It offers a platform for those that maintain that getting to the gym is the hardest part of getting in shape. There are those, who like me, can't be bothered to go to the gym but also find exercising on a treadmill or bike at home (or in the gym) boring as hell. As anyone who has ever bought an exercise bike will know, exercising at home has its pitfalls - you can get distracted and it doesn't take long for the initial enthusiasm to fade.

That's the biggest appeal of the Wii Fit - the fun factor. This piece of equipment isn't intended for kids alone, it's for adults. Something that makes exercising fun for adults? It's a revelation! You don't even realise you are exercising and burning calories in the process because you are playing. For those who enjoy a game of football or netball, who enjoy playing the game it's the same thing - they burn loads of calories whilst having fun. For me, I just like to play games. At home. I am not averse to exercise but it has to be on my terms! And the Wii Fit meets those terms precisely.

Manage your expectations, and with a long term commitment to fitness, the Wii Fit can deliver results. You only have to search on the net to find numerous bloggers backing this claim. So perhaps the issue here isn't whether the Wii Fit is serious about exercise or not, it's whether you are... it will only be a 'fad' if you buy it and don't use it.

Owen Taylor is a writer, console freak and a food junkie. It's a complete revelation to him to be able to partake in something he finds tedious (ie exercise) for hours at a time (thanks to his Wii).

Nintendo Wii Console, Mii characters and Wii Channels

If you still don't know what a Wii (pronounced 'we') is, it is a games console from Nintendo. But as you will understand if you read on, the Wii is more than just a games machine.

What makes this games machine different and why perhaps it is currently better than many other games machines is that you don't have to spend your time sitting in front of a computer screen playing the games.

This games machine comes with clever hand held controllers called Wii Remotes that detect movement. So now you can stand in front of your TV and act as though you are playing the game i.e. you move your arms to bat the ball in a tennis game or swing your arm in golf or ten pin bowling games. The Wii Remote seems very sensitive to how you move it, so for example your ten pin bowling ball can even curve as it goes down the lane as it might in the real game.

The Wii console connects to your television via an AV Cable and the console can also communicate with the Internet via wireless or a LAN adaptor. This games machine can also connect wirelessly with the Nintendo DS handheld games console.

The Wii is backward-compatible to all Nintendo GameCube games and includes four ports for controllers and two slots for memory cards. A single self-loading media bay plays single- or double-layered 12-cm optical discs, as well as 8-cm Nintendo GameCube discs.

There are a lot of different games you can play on this machine but the Wii Sports package available in most countries contains the five games of tennis, baseball, bowling, golf and boxing. All these games are designed to demonstrate the motion-sensing capabilities of the Remote.

You can also use your own customised Mii Channel characters in compatible games to give the game that personal touch by making your own play characters. Mii characters are fun 3D caricature portraits of you, your friends or family that are simple and easy to create. Once you create a character you can watch it come to life in certain games. In addition to storing Mii characters on the Console, up to ten characters can be stored in your Remote and taken to a friend's house to play on another Console.

This games machine is however, more than just a games console, because with the built-in Wii Channels you can surf the Internet, edit your digital photos, check the news and weather, and much more.

For example if you have some photos or videos on an SD memory card or cell phone, then the Photo Channel lets you display your digital images and movies on your television screen using the SD memory card bay in the Console. You can zoom in or out on the photos, or watch them in a slideshow. You can even put your favourite songs on an SD memory card to play as the background music in the slideshow.

With the Wii Internet Channel, you can surf the web on your TV, in the comfort of your own living room. Using Opera's full internet browser, the Internet Channel supports Adobe Flash and JavaScript, so you can even watch videos available on many of the popular websites.

The unique Wii Remote gives parents and grandparents a chance to play games with their children and puts the player in the middle of the action. Forget about pushing a button to start a golf backswing this Remote lets you swing the club. Don't push a button to swing a sword, actually swing the sword.

All in all the Wii looks like a new generation of games machine and is likely to be used by a much wider audience of games player. For example, it would not be surprising to see its use in retirement homes to encourage physical activity in the elderly. There is fun for all ages in playing with this games machine.

No, the Nintendo Wii Fit is Not to Be Used With the DS Lite

As the Nintendo Wii Fit and Wii continue to dominate the gaming arena it seems lots of folk out there are getting confused as they see the Nintendo DS Lite more and more on their tellies and in the shops. What exactly is the confusion? These folk are thinking that the DS Lite can be used along side the Wii Fit or Wii. No, no, no.

It should be noted of course that if you are a gaming enthusiast or even a partial enthusiast you will know that you cannot use the DS Lite along side the Wii Fit or Wii. However, if you are new to the world of gaming you could be forgiven for being confused because now, in the middle of the Wii craze, we are seeing the DS Lite advertised everywhere and you may think that it's some kind of continuation or even an attachment to the Wii or Wii Fit.

Let's just put all this straight. The Nintendo Wii and Wii Fit are predominantly exercise geared games whereas the Nintendo DS Lite is a gaming console which you play without exercising and you cannot play it along side the Wii's. The DS Lite and the Wii's are completely separate from each other aside from the fact that they are all made by Nintendo.

There is no bias here, all three are superb in their own right. If you read about the Wii, Wii Fit or DS Lite, the information always contains very positive feedback.

So do please remember you newbie's out there - the DS lite is a separate console from the Wii and Wii Fit, though all three are superb.

The Nintendo Wii - Fun and Games in the Living Room

Back in 2006, when Nintendo first launched their Wii console, it represented a significant change for the video gaming industry. Although rapid change is very much the norm in the gaming world, Nintendo's approach was still a radical innovation. Instead of producing a console which was more powerful, faster and with upgraded graphics, the Wii introduced a radically different method of playing games using its motion sensitive control system technology.

The Wii uses a hand held, motion sensitive, wireless controller which has the ability to detect motion and acceleration in all directions. Rather than using a traditional joystick or D-pad, gamers swing, point and gesture using the remote control - known as the Wii-mote. This results in a very intuitive game interaction which cannot be found on any other console.

It's very easy to learn how to play games on the Wii. At the end of the day, if you are in any doubt just wave your arms around a bit more and see what happens. That may well be one of the reasons why the Wii appeals to a much broader age group than other games consoles.

There is definitely much more physical movement required to play Wii games in comparison with games for other consoles. The Wii ships with the "Wii Sports" game - and now "Wii Sports Resort" - which is the perfect vehicle to demonstrate just how different the Wii control system is. Wii Sports has five different games - bowling, tennis, golf, baseball and boxing. These are perfect for demonstrating, by means of the natural movements required in each sport, how to use the Wii controller in the best manner. The Wii Sports Resort includes 12 further sports based games, such as table tennis, canoeing and sword fighting - all of which use the Wii's motion sensitive controllers to maximum effect.

The games that are bundled with the Wii console are extremely good. They should keep you amused for a good length of time - and the other sort of games which do not finish. As long as you have one or two friends or family members who would like a game of golf or tennis you can keep returning to Wii sports again and again - and you will.

However, there is an enormous selection of games available for you to buy for the Wii. Sonic and Super Mario are always very popular and Wii Fit has proven to be a massive success. The opportunity to exercise in the comfort of your own living room, without the need to buy any costly special equipment, appeals to many people. Apart from your Wii console, all you will need is the Wii Fit software and the Wii Fit balance board - which are a fraction of the cost of a gym membership. The Wii also records and tracks your progress, acting as your personal trainer.

As a result of the Wii's appeal across a wide age group, you will often find it in the living room of family homes rather than tucked away in a teenager's bedroom. It is a more sociable console than the others - many of the games are much more enjoyable if they are played as part of a group - although you can play against the computer if you wish. That may be one of the reasons why the recently released black Wii has proven to be such a great success for Nintendo. It could be down to the fact that it is more coordinated with the other devices to be found in the typical family living room.

Check out the black Wii console and have a look at the huge selection of Wii games available to help you enjoy it.

Discover The Easy Way To Find Wii Downloads For Your Nintendo Wii

If you are the lucky owner of a Nintendo Wii, I want to show you an easy way to get new games, movies, TV shows and more for your system.

Nowadays many people are used to downloading music for their computer, however it is estimated that only 10-15% of video game users use downloads for their system. The fact is that you can download Wii games and start playing them on your Nintendo Wii within minutes.

The most common question we receive about this is - "Where can I download Nintendo Wii games?"

For now, you have two main options. Let's quickly go over them so you can decide what works best for you.

Option #1 - Wii Downloads

There are websites that advertise having "free Wii downloads" and offer to let you download games at no cost. It obviously sounds great, but there are a few things you need to keep in mind before you click that "download now" button.

First off, there have been a number of these websites that have been shut down in recent months for distributing a large number of viruses and spyware. Getting Wii games is obviously your goal, but you don't want to damage your computer at the same time.

The downloads at these websites are very slow and you will find that over half of the files are "corrupt", meaning they don't work whatsoever. It can be extremely irritating to wait days for something to finish downloading only to find out it doesn't work.

I typically recommend staying away from these websites - they can put your computer at risk and waste a lot of your time.

Option #2 - Wii Downloads

This option takes care of the problem of viruses and spyware, slow downloads and games that don't work that you get in the first option.

There are specialized companies that have set up Nintendo Wii download websites. They pay money to have access to a huge library of games, movies, TV shows and music and then offer these downloads to their members.

You will be asked to pay a small membership fee, but is isn't expensive (about $50) and will get you unlimited downloads. You just have to log-in and can then download any game (or other file) for free.

There are a few websites that also charge monthly fees or "per-download" fees - stay away from them. The best websites will only charge a one-time fee for unlimited downloads for the rest of the time you own your Wii. You can learn how to get a free trial at a couple of the best Wii download websites at http://www.my-wii-downloads.com.

The setup is extremely easy and only takes about 3 minutes. You can start downloading and using games or movies right away. You membership also includes the software you need to be able to transfer the files for use on your Wii.

Once you get in the habit of downloading Wii games, it gets to be highly addicting. It's nice to be able to get a new game whenever you want without going to the store or pulling out your wallet.

With the Nintendo Wii breaking sales records and growing in popularity, you can expect more and more gamers to learn about Wii downloads and start taking advantage of this option. It's the best way to keep your Wii fully stocked with the newest games without leaving the house. All the best!

If you get tired of having to constantly replace these batteries you can purchase Wii accessories that were specially designed to act as charging stations for your controllers. They come with rechargeable battery packs for your controller and then when you are not using them you can recharge them. A significant amount of cash can be saved by taking away the requirement to replace batteries.

If you enjoy playing driving games then you will probably want to be sure you buy the Wii Wheel. This cool Wii accessory permits the player to position the remote controller in the middle of the wheel and then steer the vehicle. There are no cables that can get twisted and tangled up like former wheels that you could get with gaming systems and that's a great thing.

Over time you may notice that you have collected numerous Wii games and accessories. You can buy a number of stands that can assist in organizing many of the accessories that you acquire. This includes both the Wii and all of the controllers such as the Nintendo Wii Classic Controller that you have to go with it.

Nintendo System - Wii The Revolution Has Begun

Though I haven't really been a video game lover for years, and I hadn't tried the new Nintendo System Wii I did teach myself some of the finer concepts of playing "actual" tennis, from playing David Cranes tennis on an old Nintendo Console, many years ago. I figured out the specifics of spin, and curving the ball on the "real" tennis court from playing a video game!

Though that's really the only game I've ever played to any extent, I was excited when my daughter came to visit me, and brought her brand new Nintendo System Wii with her!

I now regard myself a 100% Nintendo Wii convert! As I read my first limited review on the new Nintendo System Wii, I found myself questioning the motion-reactive controls (the remote control and nunchuck) and the wand that you needed to locate in front or on top of the television set. Not only that, but reports of the Nintendo System Wii graphics seemed abominable.

Would the Nintendo System Wii be able to contend in a video game domain where, whenever you are performing NBA 2007 on a Playstation 2, you can see the perspiration droplets on Shaq's realistic facial expression?

The Nintendo System Wii comprises a diminutive and noiseless console and fits virtually anyplace. The Playstation 3 comparatively is immense and is more difficult to hide. Sony has made some odd choices when it comes to their flagship console, and it lacks the innovation of the Nintendo System Wii, in so many ways, aesthetically as well as in function. Nintendo System Wii has it over Sony in almost every department.

In spite of my reluctance regarding the Nintendo System Wii wand/remote, there is zero awkwardness or discombobulation regarding them. The remote control and nunchuck controls are logical, and the Nintendo System Wii provides complete on-screen direction just in case you ever become befuddled. The Playstation 3 on the other hand provides no equal controller or progressive simplicity of use.

Nintendo System Wii should be commended for bringing out a $300 game console that does not forget a whole generation of users behind. The Nintendo System Wii arrives set up to play all GameCube games and includes concealed ports for GameCube controls. Although Sony didn't make the mistake of backwards compatability, this is one of the issues with Xbox, many of the newer games don't play properly on Xbox 360.

The Nintendo System Wii is sinking in to our culture in many ways, apart from the ease of use of the Nintendo System Wii, there are so many other great facets to it. The fact that there is the potential to burn calories and work up a sweat, is a revolution in itself. There are companies out there now devising Public Rooms you will be able to rent for parties, that are set up for the ultimate Nintendo System Wii experience. I've also seen reports of Fitness Centers putting Nintendo System Wii systems in for their clients to use as a warmup before their workout.

All in all the Nintendo System Wii is set to revolutionize society as no game console has done before.

Wii Remote Troubleshooting - Steps to Fixing Wii Remote Problems

Have you been having problems with your Wiimote? Here are some troubleshooting steps that should get you back in the game quick! These tips will work for all Wiimote errors. First of all, make sure that you have properly set up your Wii. Double check to make sure that the sensor bar power cord is firmly attached to the back of the Wii and then chose whether you want the sensor bar to be centered above or below your television screen. This is a no brainer, but I will say it anyway: Make sure that you are using fresh quality name brand alkaline batteries in the Wiimote. If you are using rechargeable batteries then make sure that are the new school nickel metal hydride and not old school cadmium.

1. Make sure that the Wiimote controller is at least three to ten feet from your television set.

2. Is there anything blocking the signal the is between the Wii console itself and the sensor bar? If there are then move them out of the way.

3. What else causes sensor bar and Wiimote not to work? Interference from other things such as candles, sunlight, the glow from a fireplace as well as infrared signal from any number of devices. Make sure these devices are far away from the Wii. Do you own a remote controlled car or plane? The radio frequency interference from these devices can interfere with proper Wiimote/sensor bar communication.

4. What other wireless toys do you have laying around that could possibly interfere with the Wii? Hows about cordless phone? A computer using wireless internet or wireless input devices like keyboard and mouse? Many people overlook these simple little things that are causing your Wii not to function properly. This is just because of a simple misunderstanding of what radio frequency and infrared frequency and wireless communication can do to your home environment. Now it is my hope that you understand these basic things so that you get hours of enjoyment from your Wii console.

If after all these steps are you still having problems? If the earlier steps did not get you back in the game here are some more things you can do to get back in the game fast! If your Wiimote is still not communicating with the Wii console, then you need to get your Wii console to shake hands or get "synced" with your Wiimote again. This can be hard if the Wiimote you are using is not the original factory issue one that came with your console. The fact is if the Wiimote was working and now it is not! Then you need to synchronize the Wiimote to the controller again.

Here are some more troubleshooting steps to help you fix your Wiimote problem and get back in the game:

1. Turn the Wii console power off. Then go to the wall and unplug the power cord from the outlet. Wait about sixty seconds and then plug the power cord back in the wall.

2. Turn the power back on. If you see a Health and Safety screen, then look for and find the small flap on the front of your Wii console and then find and push a little red button that says "sync" on it. Press this button and hold it down for about thirty seconds. This should clear all of the syncs that have taken place on your Wii. It is like clearing a memory or resetting to factory defaults if you will.

3. Now, after the button has been held down for at least thirty seconds you can now get down to doing a re-sync with your Wiimote.

4. Now, take the Wiimote that you want to sync and take off the battery cover and you will find a little red button under your batteries. Press this button quickly and release it and you should see blinking blue lights on the front of your Wiimote.

5. Go back to the console and press then sync button under the flap again. Then if all has worked properly you should see a player LED has stopped blinking and this means your re-sync is done! These procedures will need to be performed for each additional Wiimote that you want to use on your system.

So as you can see if you are having problems with your Wii remote they can be fixed by knowing the proper troubleshooting steps. This is also true for any problem with your Wii console whether it is Wii error codes or your wii remote. You can fix your Wii problems yourself and save money doing it if you have a good do it yourself Wii repair guide. An Overview of Wii Controllers

The Wii Controllers are an integral part of the Nintendo Wii games console. The Wii was launched in 2006 as a successor to the GameCube and has fast distinguished itself as one of the most popular consoles of all time, outselling both the PS3 and the Xbox 360 by a considerable amount. It has this success due to one unique feature of the Wii and that's its Wii Controllers, which can be used for a variety of uses, which will be explored in detail later. The Wii Controllers, Wii remote and the Wiimote are all the same thing as they can all be carried out under the main controller.

The most important equipment needed to play games on the Wii console are the Wii Controllers which are available with different functionality and shapes. They can also be cleverly fitted into a number of sports accessories, such as the Wii Wheel and the Nunchuck for a more realistic game play with the Wii Sports game, which accompanies all the Wii Consoles.

The Wii Controllers are accompanied by an Analog Device and a PixArt optical sensor so that it enables you to have smooth coordination between your hands and the screen with which you are playing on. The controllers actually work thanks to the Wii sensor bar as the controller is able to sense acceleration through the Analog device and use the PixArt to determine where the controller is pointing.

The key to being able to play with online characters is the innovation of the Wii Controllers as you control their movement from your hands using the controller. Where with most games, you need a number of different controller to perform different actions, the greatest thing about the controllers, is because they double up as the remote, this means that you can perform all the functions from one place.

Examples of some of the functions on the Wii Controllers are that you can select the player mode, in that you can decide if you want single, double or multi player mode. You can also play, pause and stop any time during the game as well as being able to control the volume, plus you can select and customise the character in your game. So for example, if you are doing the snowboarding game, then you can choose your sex, hair colour, what they can wear and many more options, (this is called Customise Mii) so it completely makes it unique to you. Finally, you can make your game character jump, run, skate, dive and lots more actions all through the power of your remote.

The Wii Controllers [http://www.nintendowiifitconsole.co.uk/wii-accessories/wii-controllers-wii/] are a completely innovative piece of equipment and Nintendo broke all the rules when they were designing them as they have steered completely away from the classic look of a controller, which could have backfired massively for them, but fortunately for them, and us, it paid off.

Nintendo Wii Gadgets - Surefire Ways To Fire Up Your Gaming Experience

The world of gaming will never be the same again thanks to the advanced gaming controllers, sophisticated technology, high-end but yet user-friendly graphics and complex gaming environments all converging together to make your gaming experience as satisfying as possible. For Nintendo's Wii's saga, most of this work is done by nifty Wii Gadgets that truly enhance your gaming experience. Little devices they might be, but playing games on the Nintendo Wii can never be the same again due to them. Here's a quick look at Nintendo's leading Wii Gadgets:

Wii Wheel: If you are playing racing games online, the inputs for the racing are fairly disconcerting usually since you press the spacebar to engage the hand-brake or press the "up" arrow for accelerating. Wouldn't it be nice if you had a way to actually stimulate the actual steering at least if not sit in an actual car? Nintendo's Wii Wheel does just that. With a simple and intuitive touch to input devices, Nintendo designed the Wii Wheel to give you an actual steering wheel like gizmo that helps you to enhance your control on the car you are racing with to allow you to feel like you are driving a real car. Can your racing games be more realistic, at least partially? Pick up the Wii Wheel and you have all the controls on it along with steering. Remember that you'll need a Wii Remote for this to work (sold separately).

The Wii Zapper: Do you like to play hero? Don't even begin if you aren't equipped, they say, don't they? If you are a shooting game enthusiast, you will love the Wii Zapper which can be used to zap your way through the enemy lines shooting away to glory all the while controlling characters through the Wii Zapper itself. The Wii Zapper works in combination of the Wii Remote along with the Nunchuck to render a gaming experience that classifies as "Out of this world". The best part is that most of the operations are self-explanatory; you could be trigger-happy within a few minutes of set-up.

Wii Speak: Most online multi-player games and even the Wii multi-player games have many other users playing in tandem. There are times when you might want to talk to some or all of them. You do want to announce your intentions, shout out for help, call the bluff on your enemies and give out a war cry every now and then, don't you? Just how do you do it? The Wii Speak is a nifty hands-free device that can be set-up and used to help you do that and much more. You could connect through a Wii channel and use it to talk with others or send them voice messages no matter where they are in the world.

You would have noticed that each of these gadgets have to be bought separately so the buying you would do should be backed by proper analysis. What kind of games do you usually play? Are you the shooting junkie or the racing junkie? Can you do without talking to others and just play instead? These questions could help you to narrow down on the right Nintendo Wii gadget you will need most and save you some money upfront.

Are you game yet?

How to Use Wii Accessories to Improve Play

Everyone knows that to play on your Wii console successfully and get the most enjoyment out of it as possible that you need to invest in a few good Wii Accessories such as the Nunchucks or the Wii Wheels. But what some people don't think about, is the behind the scenes products that can improve the usability tenfold. Here we will highlight some of these products and see why you will not be able to live without them where your Wii Accessories are concerned!

One if the lesser knows Wii Accessories is the component cable for the console. This cable is to ensure that any television that supports component input will be able to produce the best picture quality for the games. As the Wii doesn't do HD the most benefit from this cable is that there will be a progressive scan which will prevent any interlaced edges on fast moving games and the pixilation increases meaning that the picture is shaper. A little tip I picked up on the cable is that, if you set the Wii setting to output 430p, then the graphics will be at their best.

Another of the great Wii Accessories is the Virtual Console and the Nintendo Points Card. The Virtual Console is a specialised section of the Wii Shop Channel and the Nintende DSi Shop that allows players to purchase and download games online for the Wii Console. They consist of originally released titles on past consoles and through software emulation, can be bought with points on the Points Card. You buy the initial point's card and then credit your card with online credit card transactions or by purchasing the points at retail stores.

The Nintendo Will has a 512mb of internal memory which means that you can save games and downloads the Virtual Console Games mentioned above directly to your console without a memory card. However is you have a SanDisk for Wii SD Card, you can save backup files and games to the card. The card is also great for getting your pictures onto your Wii or for moving games from system to system.

The final part of the Wii Accessories that we are looking at is the Wii LAN Adapter. As the Wii Console has a built in wireless network, you can quickly and easily connect you Wii to the internet. However if you don't have wireless network in your house then there is a way round it with the LAN adapter. This adapter enables you to create a high speed LAN internet connection via a USB cable that will support the Wii connection at full speed.

Even though the most popular and well known Wii Accessories are the controllers and add on's, it's the little things like cables and cards that can improve your gaming and help you have an even better experience with your Wii.

Ed Harriss Jones writes reviews and comparisons on Wii Accessories and everything you need for your Wii.

Nintendo Wii Games Full Line Up

Through the days of GameCube, GameBoy, Entertainment System and the DS line, there was really little between the likes of Nintendo, Microsoft (Xbox) and Sony (PS) in video gaming. That was until the Wii came along, and then BANG! By now, few true -blue video gamers would dispute that Nintendo has clearly surged ahead.

Needless to say, the video game industry is highly lucrative and everybody wants a bite of the pie. To occupy pole position, the Nintendo Wii had to be top-notch as a lifestyle item. It is multimedia, personal computer, internet browser, communication device and most of all, the mother of all video game consoles, all-in-one.

Everything about Wii revolves around the remote controller and Nintendo Wii Games are no exception. Its motion sensing technology makes the gaming experience feels like the real thing be it tennis, bowling, baseball, boxing and so forth. So much for the 'couch potato' image of video gaming as the intrinsic specialty of Nintendo Wii Games is the players' movement.

Nintendo Wii Games are inherently played without clutter or restraint through its wireless remote. It is the tennis racquet, steering wheel, gun or bowling ball depending on what game is on. Coupled with the Nunchuck secondary controller, it truly brings Nintendo Wii Games into a gaming dimension previously unknown. There is even an adaptor that fits over the remote for those who are more accustomed to the old-version controller.

Game consoles are generally tended to kids but Nintendo Wii Games can be family affairs, they have the range. There's even a menu channel for setting up personal profiles called Mii so involvement and participation can be even and well-matched regardless of age, gender and other conditions. A wide variety of games are available spanning sports, action, fighting, puzzles, casino and others.

Classic and retro games are also widely available. For one thing, the Nintendo Wii is backward compatible to the games of GameCube and even Entertainment System series. 4 GameCube controller ports are actually provided although some of the old games can be played with the Wii remote. The media bay will also accept the old GameCube discs along with the newer Wii version.

The primary source of Nintendo Wii Games is the Wii games store. They are also available through the Wii Virtual Console. However, the pricing structure through these two avenues is rigid and can be steep in the long run especially for serial Wii gamers. That's why an alternative source of Nintendo Wii Games with a commercial twist through online download is getting vastly popular. At a fraction of the cost of the conventional disc, why wouldn't it be?

Discover How To Download Nintendo Wii Games For Your System - The Easy Way To Find The Newest Games

The Nintendo Wii has caused quite the buzz in the video game industry and has attracted customers from all age groups. It's truly a unique system that is extremely addictive. One of the best ways to get new games is to use Nintendo Wii downloads - they let you get new games without having to step foot in the store or pull out your wallet.

One of the most common questions we get from people who own the Wii is where they can find Wii downloads. It's a good question so we thought we would answer it here in case you were wondering the same thing.

Download Wii Games - Option #1

There are a few websites that advertise having "free Wii game downloads". Obviously they sound great at first, but there are a few things you have to consider before you click that "download now" button.

These websites are notorious for spreading viruses and spyware. Recently there have been a number of websites like this that have been shut down for this exact reason.

Besides risking the possibility of damaging your computer, the most common complaint we have heard is about the slow download speeds and the number of "corrupt" files (meaing they don't work) that are on these sites. It's frustrating waiting over a day for a game to finish downloading and then find out it doesn't even work.

Although these sites sound promising at first, we typically recommend staying away from there. For the most part they are more trouble than they are worth.

Download Wii Games - Option #2

There are specialty Nintendo Wii download websites that let you download games when you register as a member. After you signup you log in to the website whenever you want and can start downloading games, movies, TV shows or music for your Wii.

These websites charge a membership fee (about $50) that will give you unlimited downloads. You will only be billed once and can then use the website whenever you want for as long as you have your Wii. It's about the cost of one game which makes it a lot cheaper in the long run since you can just download any game you want instead of having to go to the store and buy it.

Since the companies that run these websites are out to make a profit, they make sure that the download speeds are fast, the selection is huge and that all the files work.

There's a link at the bottom of this article that you can use to learn how to start a risk-free trial to a couple of these websites. It takes about 5 minutes to setup and the software you need to use the games on your Wii is included.

Although our focus has been on downloading Wii games, many people will register at these sites for the movie or TV show downloads. The selection is absolutely massive. We even found a couple of obscure foreign films when we did a test search just for fun. It's impressive to see just how much there is to choose from both in the games and movie sections.

The Nintendo Wii continues to fly off the shelves and enter the homes of new users each day. Iwata Asks: Donkey Kong Country Returns - Read the Interview With the Game Creators

Okay. I'll never forget April 2008... I already talked about this around the time of E3 when we did a session of "Iwata Asks" for Donkey Kong Country Returns, but there was a bit of an incident when several of the core members at Retro Studios who had worked on the Metroid Prime series quit the company.

I didn't know what to do, but about that time, and totally by chance, Miyamoto-san said he wanted to make a new Donkey Kong Country game4 and asked if there were any good possible developers for it. I suggested Retro Studios, and that's how this project began. Donkey Kong Country: A side-scrolling action game released for the Super NES system in November 1994. In addition to three games that appeared for Super NES, a version was also released for the Game Boy Advance system.

Nintendo Wii Repair Tips - Fixing Wii Errors

Just because the Nintendo Wii is such a fantastically cool gaming console that doesn't mean that it hasn't had its far share of problems too. In this article you are going to learn some of the most basic steps of Nintendo Wii repair so that you can get back to playing your favorite games again. Fixing Wii errors is not actually that difficult with the right advice and a little bit of effort.

Here is a list of the most common errors on the Wii, as well as a guide to fixing these Wii errors. This is a good overview of basic Nintendo Wii repair steps that you can follow to ensure that your console works again like brand new.

1) Wiimote/Wii controller does not work - As suggested, your Wiimote/controller does not work; you cannot select anything and the controller does not respond. This does not just apply to the standard Wiimote however- difficulties with the Wii Nunchuck, Rock Band guitar etc are included. The first step in fixing Wii errors like this is to ensure that you have fresh batteries in the controller. Secondly, you need to ensure that there is nothing blocking the signal between the sensor bar and the controller itself.

2) Game discs don't work/Freezing and crashing during gaming - This is quite a broad error but basically involves any situation where a game disc is rejected, your game freezes or crashes, or anything along those lines. Nintendo Wii repair for this type of error involves firstly cleaning and inspecting the game disc for finger marks, dirt and scratches (note that excessive levels of scratching may mean that the disc is permanently damaged) You should clean it with lukewarm water with a small amount of mild detergent.

3) Console won't start/console system errors - This type of error which either involves your Wii not starting at all, or a strange error message (usually a number) displayed on screen is generally caused by problems in the hardware of your console. The first step you should try when fixing this Wii error is to disconnect and reconnect your console's power supply. If this does not work then there is a high chance your Wii has experienced a general hardware failure. Repairing this Nintendo Wii error is much more in-depth process, but it can still be done at home.

If these steps do not work, or your Wii has a different error from those listed above, click the link to learn about a Nintendo Wii repair guide that will show you step-by-step how fix your Wii, regardless of what error has affected your console. Golden Sun: Dark Dawn Official Site Updated with a Revealing Developer Interview

— It's been eight years since Golden Sun: The Lost Age, so what kicked off the development this time?

Takahashi (Hiroyuki):
It just picked up momentum... (laughs)

Sato:
It was long-awaited, overseas and within Nintendo as well.

Takahashi (Shugo):
I often thought we should make a sequel.

— Did you consider if the series had already been completed?

Takahashi (Hiroyuki):
No, not at all!

Takahashi (Shugo):
We had intended the first two to be more of a prologue! (laughs)

Takahashi (Hiroyuki):
For example, there was a time in the West when alchemy was viewed
as science. I thought a story where the person opened the door to find
himself in such a world would be interesting. The first two series were
part of opening the door to that world. I myself wanted to see what
would happen after that. But to be honest, I used a lot of strength in
making the first two games.

Takahashi (Shugo):
The battles and other events all progress simultaneously in them, so I was
kicking for all I was worth to keep my head above water! (laughs) I used all my strength in the programming, graphics, planning, and scenarios.

Sato:
When we asked Camelot to develop them, we could expect you would push the hardware to the limit.

Takahashi (Shugo):
And when it comes to a sequel, it goes without saying that everyone expects something even more amazing than the first two games in all ways possible. We found it difficult to try meeting those expectations immediately after those two. Nintendo’s games are high performance, but they all share an element of approachability, like an F1 car that anyone can drive. So I thought we also need to make something with that characteristic.

— What kinds of games has Camelot worked on in the past?

Takahashi (Hiroyuki):
The first game we made together with Nintendo was Mario Golf1 for the Nintendo 64, around 1998. At first, we wanted to make an RPG, but then we decided to make a golf game in order to gain developmental know-how for the Nintendo 64.

1. Mario Golf: A sports game released for the Nintendo 64 system in the US on June 11, 1999.

— After the Mario Golf series, you developed the Mario Tennis2 series, right?

2. Mario Tennis series: Mario Tennis (Nintendo 64), Mario Tennis (Game Boy Color), Mario Power Tennis (GameCube), Mario Tennis: Power Tour (Game Boy Advance), and New Play Control! Mario Power Tennis (Wii).

Takahashi (Hiroyuki):
Right. I'd always thought that the most interesting sports for computer
games would be golf and tennis. For sports games with Mario as the
main character, I thought fathers would like golf and mothers would like
tennis, and everyone in the family could enjoy the games all together.
We made it easy to keep a rally going.

Takahashi (Shugo):
That way, players can focus on the strategic element in tennis, so I think
it was a good representation of the sport. Then the RPG, which had been
put off for so long, came to the light of day for the Game Boy Advance as the Golden Sun series.3

3. Golden Sun series: A fantasy role-playing series developed by Camelot. The previous two installments, Golden Sun (Nov. 2001) and Golden Sun: The Lost Age (April 2003), were both released for the Game Boy Advance. Golden Sun: Dark Dawn is set 30 years after the previous games left off.

— You had always wanted to make an RPG, so you must have had high hopes.

Takahashi (Hiroyuki):
Yeah. There sure was a lot of pressure, but also a lot of motivation. We had been brewing some ideas for quite a long time, and the result was the Psynergy system, which appears again in Golden Sun: Dark Dawn.

Wii Game - Gift Ideas For Everyone on Your List

A Wii game gift is one of the hottest items this season - and for good reason. If anyone has mastered the art of family entertainment, it's Nintendo. Since the inception of its Wii gaming platform, the company has enjoyed rave reviews, and is currently the best selling gaming system on the market.

Part of Wii's appeal is due to several distinct features of the system, like the infamous wireless remote, and its ability to connect, and upgrade from the Internet while on standby mode. It's main appeal, however, is that it brings family and friends together, of all ages, and allows them to join in the excitement and fun that Wii delivers.

Almost all Wii games are designed so that anyone, no matter what their experience level, can jump right into the action and start playing immediately. The Wii remote is designed the same way. It was created as a multi functional device. While it features buttons, it's mainly controlled through physical actions.

When playing tennis, for instance, players swing the remote to hit the ball. If boxing, users must punch and jab with the device. The innovative design creates a whole new level of interactive play, and users of all experience level are quickly hooked.

Wii has capitalized on the realistic play the system provides, and created an extensive line of games which are well suited to the interactive environment. No matter who you need to shop for, there is a Wii game gift that suits every different type of personality and lets everyone join in the fun.

Here are a few ideas for those on your list:

For the sports enthusiast: Wii Sports Resort is a sequel to the popular Wii sports game. It has enjoyed massive success since its release and for good reason - it offers a great line up of fun games set in a tropical island paradise. What's not to love? As with most Wii games, you use the interactive remote to literally swing into action. You can compete against friends and family in games like Power Cruising, Sword Play, or Golfing.

The game comes with a new Wii MotionPlus accessory, which attaches to the remote and makes the play even more realistic. The best part about the game, however, is that it really appeals to everyone. Senior citizens, Gen X'er's and 8 year old players all find the game challenging and enjoyable.
For the fitness lover (or couch potato who wants to get it shape): EA Sports Active is like having a personal trainer in your living room. The popular Wii game makes fitness fun and segments your workout in 20 minute circuits of familiar activities that target different parts of your body.

The virtual trainer helps motivate you and guides you through the workouts. There is even a 30 day challenge custom made for you, which changes as you progress. It tracks your progress, the intensity of your workouts and the amount of calories you burn.

This is a great gift for sports enthusiasts and couch potatoes because it makes fitness fun for everyone. The easy to maintain regimen (designed in part by Oprah's personal trainer) keeps players engaged and focused on maintaining a healthy lifestyle.

For the adrenaline junkie: Mario Kart Wii with Wii Wheel offers an exhilarating ride and the Wii wheel makes sure you feel every bump and turn in the road. This popular game is one of Wii's best sellers and makes for a great family style arcade game. Featuring lots of different race tracks, colorful graphics and realistic, immersive play, the game is a hit for kids and adults alike.

This is just a small sample of the Wii game gifts ideas available but it's a good start. One of the really nice things about the Wii games is that no matter what your personality or preference, when you start playing any of the games, you quickly get sucked into the fun. A Wii game gift therefore doesn't have to really be suited for any one type of person - it truly is entertainment the whole family can enjoy - and it makes gift shopping very easy!
